LOL, that’s probably the funniest thing I will hear today. Heck, maybe this year. I had no clue people still used AOL, or even enjoyed their “service”.  Their dial up service is nearly 25 bucks a month. a couple bucks more and you can get SBC/Yahoo DSL.

I forgot what the choices were on your poll, but I’ve heard earthlink is pretty decent, and probably far cheaper than AOL. The avg price for a dial up account is around 5-10 bucks a month for unlimited access, I wouldn’t pay anymore than that.  Hope this helps. Please do not go with AOL, unless you like paying 2x more for a .wav file of “You’ve got mail!”

Currently have broadband, but when I did have dial up, it was Earthlink.

Why?  I hate any ISP that makes you download their software just to get online.  Earthlink has software, but you don’t have to use it.  Just use dialup networking and configure the settings and you can simply get online without all the other crap that you have.

Makes it nice when you are using another computer and need to get online without having to install 20mb worth of files first.

Also, for use on a PDA, it works very well.

oh ya, the high speed/topspeed stuff they offer, where they charge you 5 bucks more than the regular service, its not really accelerated internet. your bandwidth stays the same, but they cache all the pages u visit most often, and often they downgrade the quality of the images on the page to decrease the size. I remember I gave it a shot a long time ago, and for me, it was quite annoying seeing pages that looked half assed. I’d rather wait the extra 5 seconds and get the real deal. but that’s all up to, you can give it a try and see if it bothers u or not.

i think the best ones are local providors… the ones that ahave customer support with 20mi and don’t make you download their program.

SBC Yahoo DSL customer get free dial up access.  I contacted them, and a representative told me that I could be on both DSL and dial up at the same time.  Knowing this, I created a few sub accounts and gave free dial up to my friends, and my friends friends.  It’s been like this for months, and I’ve never gotten in trouble, so I guess its okay.

So in conclusion, talk to a friend who has SBC Yahoo DSL, and tell him to hook you up.  The connection is pretty good, and plus you get all the benefits of a SBC Yahoo DSL customer. 2GB mail. Yeah, 2GB is ridiculous, but still it beats everything else I’ve heard of.

Earthlink, because they have an orange logo, and gave me free stuff, and they are partly owned by Apple. 😊
