Natalie Portman’s Changing Style

Natalie Portman says her style has changed since becoming a mother. The Oscar-wining actress welcomed son, Aleph, into the world last June and admits she has had to adapt the way she looks as she is keen to appear more mature.
"I've been trying to look more like a lady recently. I used to be happy in a T-shirt and sweatpants, and now I feel like I want to make myself a little more grown-up - now that I'm a mom," she said.
The 30-year-old beauty also says she loves vintage fashion because there's always a story behind the outfit. "I feel like you are sort of stepping into history. It's really amazing to get the story of where a dress has been; you know that it has lived through many people's stories," she told WWD.
Natalie Portman Chooses Charity Dior Lipstick

A lipstick chosen by Natalie Portman for Dior will give its proceeds to the Free the Child Foundation.
The Oscar-winning actress - who is the face of Miss Dior fragrance and Diorskin Nude foundation - is an ambassador for the charity, which helps liberate children from poverty, and chose it to receive money made from the sale of Rouge Dior's Nude Grege lipstick.
She revealed she picked the shade due to its number 169 having a special meaning to her: "Six is the month that my whole family was born in -- everyone was born in June. We're all June babies. Nine is a magic number, and one is my son - his name is one in Hebrew, Aleph."
Natalie - who is married to ballet dancer Benjamin Millepied - has a long history with Dior, and recently auctioned off a vintage 1954 dress by the house she wore to the Oscars this year.
Items Du Jour: Japan Infiltrates Givenchy, Natalie’s Ring, and Lazy Lagerfeld

-- Riccardo Tisci borrowed a little inspiration from the East for Givenchy's Spring 2011 couture collection, which was modeled by an exclusively Asian cast. Like last year (much to many celebrities' dismay, I'm sure), Tisci limited the guest list to wealthy serious buyers.
-- Don't you wish you could vote Miuccia Prada into office? Well, the designer says that a life of politics is not out of the question.
-- A touch of Playboy bunny, a dash of Pirates of the Caribbean, and a sprinkle of Katy Perry make for Rihanna's upcoming music video for her song, "S&M."
-- Oscar nominee Natalie Portman's fiancé Benjamin Millepied looked to dancer-turned-jewelry designer Jamie Wolf when it came to choosing a one-of-a-kind design for the actress. "We wanted everything about the ring to speak to things that are important to Natalie," Wolf tells InStyle.
-- Who is Karl Lagerfeld's worst critic? Himself! The famed fashion designer tells Vogue that -- despite designing for his own label, Chanel, and Fendi -- he "could do better," and that he is "never pleased" with himself. He then gets pretentious by talking about how he reads pretentious books.

Lea Michele led the way at this year's Golden Globes by looking stunning in pink.
The Glee actress wowed onlookers at the prestigious ceremony in Los Angeles' Beverly Hilton Hotel Sunday night in a ruffled asymmetric Oscar de la Renta gown, which showed off her figure perfectly.
Pink proved to be a popular color, with Best Actress winner Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore, Claire Danes and Megan Fox all donning a different shade. Speaking of her hot pink Alber Elbaz-Lanvin gown, Julianne - who was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress (Comedy) category - said, "Alber phoned about 15 minutes after I was nominated. He said over the phone, 'How do you feel about pink?' and I said, 'Yeah, whatever.' "

-- Natalie Portman is stunning in her Christian Dior ad for the fragrance Miss Dior. Knowing that she's an animal rights activist, I can't help but feel reminded of the "I'd Rather Be Naked" campaign...
-- Sasha Pivovarova returns to Miucci Prada's fashionable arms in her Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2011 ads, shot by Mert and Marcus.
-- Take that, Blake! Not to be outshined by her Gossip Girl co-star's Chanel gig, Leighton Meester strikes a pose for Missoni. When there's a will to do high fashion, there's a way.
-- Lindsey Wixson gets in front of Terry Richardson's lens for Opening Ceremony's Spring/Summer 2011 lookbook. Apparently, Terry can do cute and adorable without being sleazy.
-- Speaking of Richardson, Paris Hilton (remember her?) posted a picture of the two on her Twitter, propagating the news that she's going to be in a Vogue editorial -- Vogue Turkey, that is.

Mulleavy Sisters Guest Edit Lula Issue, Style Kirsten Dunst
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Editorials, Fashion Designers, News,
Despite the high pressure demands of designing their Rodarte line, Kate and Laura Mulleavy somehow managed to both design costumes for Black Swan and guest edit next month's issue of Lula!
In the Fall/Winter 2010 issue -- on newsstands now -- the creative duo styled a Kirsten Dunst editorial shot by their friend Autumn de Wilde, designed Charlotte Gainsbourg's cover dress, and cajoled Tavi Gevinson and Sofia Coppola to contribute to the fashion mag.
The magazine also includes behind-the-scenes shots of Natalie Portman in Black Swan designs, which show more of the intricacies the sisters are known for that were lost somewhat in the film. Nan Goldin shoots the main editorial featuring Gainsbourg, which was styled by Leith Clark.
All in all, the few previews of the magazine that are out (seen after the jump) are sure to please any Rodarte/Mulleavy fan (or anyone who adores fashion, anyway!).

Roy Storch Has His Eye on Natalie Portman
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows,
Roy Storch would love to dress Natalie Portman.
The up-and-coming designer, who showcased his Spring/Summer collection at London’s Century Club on Monday as part of London Fashion Week, says he would be thrilled to see the stunning actress in one of his creations because she always looks so beautifully turned out.
“I would love to see someone like Natalie Portman in my dresses or maybe Charlize Theron. My style as far as a designer is concerned, is someone who dresses a person that is comfortable with what they’re doing, and they know what they like, they know their style. You can say, ‘Oh, here comes Natalie,’ and she’s dressed beautifully and she has her own unique style. I would also really love to dress Marion Cotillard - she is so chic. Also if I could have supermodel wear my clothes, it would have to be Claudia Schiffer.”
Despite being keen to dress famous women, Roy’s main aim with his collection is to make sure any female wearing one of his designs feels great in them: “With my design inspirations, I go back to Madeleine Vionnet, Balenciaga and I was taught in their way. My work really reflects a bit of Balenciaga and Madeleine Vionnet. I want women to feel great in my clothes no matter what their size.

—Designer and Britain’s Next Top Model judge Julien MacDonald recently said that having a plus-size model win “makes it a joke.” Perhaps fellow British designer Mark Fast should give him some counsel, considering he was widely praised for using plus-size models in his Spring/Sumer 2010 show last year.
—Supermodel Adriana Lima poses for Brazil’s HOLA! magazine with her husband Marko Jaric and their new baby Valentina. Looks like she’s training her to model already!
—Eclipse actress Ashley Greene gives into her cravings and claims that she doesn’t diet. As if we needed another reason to be jealous of her…
—Although plus-size models have been making their mark at current shows, normal people made a splash at Sao Paulo Fashion Week when they appeared on the Do Estilista runway. Despite their varying physiques, it was obvious that regular, non-models do know how to own a catwalk.

Dior Names Natalie Portman as New Face of Parfums
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty, News,
Actress Natalie Portman has been named as the new spokesmodel for Parfums Christian Dior.
The 28 year-old signed a deal with the French fashion house to front a new campaign - the first time she has represented a fragrance and cosmetics brand.
“We are extremely excited to have Miss Portman embody our house. She will symbolize with grace the values of luxury and the glamour of Dior,” Claude Martinez, president and chief executive officer of Parfums Christian Dior, said.
It is not yet known which project Natalie - who follows in the footsteps of Sharon Stone, Charlize Theron, Jude Law and Monica Bellucci - will be involved in. Despite her striking beauty, Natalie recently admitted she is concerned about losing her looks after seeing so many aging actresses struggle.
“You see people who were stars five years ago and already they’re waning. As actresses approach 40, it starts becoming really, really difficult.”
