Frugal Shopper Selena Gomez

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News,

Selena Gomez refuses to splash out on expensive clothes. The Disney starlet is very sensible when it comes to her money and doesn't see the point of paying out for designer items when she can get something similar for much less.

"When it comes to shopping I love a bargain. I don't usually spend over the $20 mark. I feel so much better buying a top for $20 that isn't so different from the one that costs $200. It's really rare that I buy something expensive, and if I do, I think about it over and over before splashing out."

When she goes to glamorous events, the Wizards of Waverley Place actress borrows designer outfits because she knows she won't wear them again: "When you see me on the red carpet, I'm usually in outfits that I've picked out and borrowed, and that I probably won't wear a second time, so I give them back. Normally the outfits are too expensive for me to own anyway."

One dress she won't be giving back is the gown she wore in her music video "A Year Without Rain," as she is auctioning it off for charity. "It's a beautiful dress. It was obviously a very important part of the video - we wanted it to be very beautiful and very flowy and I got so many great comments on it so I thought it would be awesome to give it to charity." The profits from the Catherine Dean dress will go towards UNICEF's mission to help underprivileged kids worldwide.

First Look: Lady Gaga Cuts Back on Hair for Alejandro

Lady Gaga's

The first look at ‘s latest music video for “Alejandro” is out, and initial reactions aren’t too flattering. Whether it be a comparison to animated folks like Ronald McDonald or The Simpsons character Mr. Burns (when he played a vampire of course), our favorite fashionista isn’t pleasing everyone. Personally, I’m glad she cut back on the extravagant hair pieces—it’s nice to see a little more natural Gaga, on top of just doing something different than her usual fare.

Viktor and Rolf Designed Gaga Prison Wear

Lady Gaga in Viktor and RolfFashionable pop singer asked to look like a prisoner in her latest music video.

The eccentric singer teamed up with designers Viktor and Rolf for “Telephone” - her duet with - as she wanted them to create her a bespoke costume, which was inspired by spending time behind bars. As a result, in some scenes in the video Gaga wears a dark grey leopard jersey jumpsuit with a studded bodice decorated with metal chains.

Christian Louboutin Flattered by JLo Song

Jennifer Lopez in Louboutins at the VMAsVery much unlike Manolo Blahnik’s sense of appreciation for who made him a household name (ahem, Carrie Bradshaw), another famous shoe designer named Christian Louboutin is thankful for Jennifer Lopez’s song, in which his name is repeated 45 times.

It may have something to do with the fact that Lopez actually got his name right:

“Jennifer told me about the song back in January, and I was extremely flattered. But of course, in America the public pronounces my name in like a million different ways. So Jennifer called me, and she was like, ‘Listen, I want to make sure that I get it right.’ And she did…from the very first time!”

Louboutin is currently hard at work on the heels set to appear in the music video for the pop star’s track, scheduled to begin filming next month. At least she’ll be able to edit out any future shoe malfunctions during those performances.

With collaborations ranging from Jennifer Lopez to Barbie, Louboutin makes it clear why he can turn down diffusion lines!
