Kardashian Sisters Sued Over Khroma Beauty
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty, News,
The Kardashian sisters are being sued for $10 million. Reality TV stars Kim, Kourtney and Khloe could face a mammoth legal bill following make-up artist Lee Tillett's claim they stole the name of their new cosmetics range, Khroma Beauty, from her.
Lee is also asking for damages from Boldface Group Inc, the company that markets their line, after a cease and desist letter sent last July imploring them to stop using the name failed to work. "I developed the Kroma line myself, built my business through my own hard work, and took the legal steps necessary to protect it. And yet I have now been forced into legal battle with the Kardashians simply because they have decided to take something that doesn't belong to them," she said.
Boldface petitioned a Florida court to rule Lee's brand name "conceptually weak," because it "consists solely of a descriptive term and lacks any inherent distinctive meaning to the relevant consuming public."

Dsquared2 Designs MAC Make-Up Line
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, News, Sales,
After revealing a successful and campy Spring/Summer ‘10 collection, Dsquared2 designers Dan and Dean Caten are moving on to a make-up line with MAC. Why stop with their edgy clothes when they offer an amazing make-up set?
Focusing on eyes and cheekbones, the Canadian twins provide you with the optimal tools to perfect the sultry, smoky look (hey, it is MAC, after all), with items starting at $17.50.
Unfortunately, like all good things in the fashion world, the collection is only available for a limited time on MAC’s website. Speaking of which, if you need any advice on applying your newly purchased Sculpt and Shape Powder ($21), apparently MAC’s make-up artists are available Monday through Friday until 10 p.m. EST to assist you via live chat. In other words, why drag yourself out of bed to get to the MAC store when you can sit your lazy arse on your computer chair and get the same help? That’s what I thought.

Kate Moss Saved Money on Make-Up

Apparently make-up artists need to save money, too—Kate Moss wore only moisturizer for a Calvin Klein photo shoot to save money.
Renowned makeup artist Kay Montano has revealed that she only used a lightweight base on the supermodel when preparing her skin for a perfume campaign in the late ‘90s because she had been urged to be frugal by bosses.
“Yes, the recession came and after that fashion and beauty became rather more pared down. One of my first jobs after moving to New York was to make up Kate Moss for the Calvin Klein Obsession fragrance campaign, and I just used moisturizer. She looked absolutely perfect.”
Kay, who has worked on London Fashion Week since it began 25 years ago, made a name for herself as the woman behind the dramatic make-up of the ‘80s. The British beauty expert said that her trademark smokey eyes were inspired by many of the decade’s biggest stars.
“My icons were women like Debbie Harry, make-up artist Barbara Daly—who did all of the Stanley Kubrik films—Jerry Hall and a makeup artist called Yvonne Gold. Yvonne had big, blonde dreadlocks and worked with Vivienne Westwood and her partner Malcolm McLaren who at the time had a new-wave band Bow Wow Wow. A signature technique of hers was to use gold paint over the Cupid’s bow, which makeup artist Pat McGrath uses a lot now.”

How supermodel Linda Evangelista applies make-up in 10 minutes
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Health & Beauty, Models,
Linda Evangelista applies her make-up in 10 minutes. The Canadian supermodel - who fronted last year’s Prada Fall campaign and is the current face of L’Oreal Paris cosmetics - has learnt so many beauty tricks during her 30-year career she only takes a few minutes to perfect her appearance. She said: “I did my own make-up this morning and it takes 10 minutes, tops! My best trick is to do it in natural light. I keep all my make-up on a huge mirrored tray and I just take it to whatever window is looking good that day.”
However, the 44-year-old beauty is so particular about how her lips look she often turns down the industry’s biggest make-up artists to make them up herself. She explained to Britain’s Grazia magazine: “I can’t live without lip liner - it just makes my face and defines it like nothing else. My cheekbones are sucked in and everything just sharpens. I’ve been using it for years and I never let make-up artists do my lip liner on shoots, not even the big ones! I don’t do lipstick. I think lip liner and a slick of gloss give a much more modern and plumping effect.”
