Kate Hudson “Can’t Afford” Designer Clothes

Kate Hudson claims she "can't afford" designer clothes.
The Bride Wars actress - who has nine-year-old son Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson, and two-year-old son Bingham with fiance Matt Bellamy - insists she has to borrow the high-end gowns she wears for the red carpet because they are too pricey for her budget.
"People think we own all these dresses. But we borrow them! I can't afford to buy that stuff. There are certain things I splurge on, but it's very rare, especially when you have two kids and school tuition. I'm not a big high-end fashion shopper. I wish I could but the truth is things are just so expensive. Before Isabel Marant was a million dollars and famous, I used to go to her store in Paris and go crazy, it was so affordable," she told Harper's Bazaar.
The 34-year-old beauty - who is worth a reported $38 million - credits her mother, Goldie Hawn, with her frugal ways: "My mom wasn't a big shopper for us. I think they wanted to instill that in us even though we grew up in a really privileged and lucky lifestyle."

Kate Hudson says Ann Taylor clothes make her "feel good."
The actress - who became face of the brand in January - loves the versatility of the fashion line's new collection and thinks there is an appropriate piece for every occasion.
"The new Ann is all about amazing, versatile pieces that take you from weekdays to weekends. I love that. It just makes you feel good."
Kate thinks Ann Taylor - which has been rejuvenated since Lisa Axelson joined the fashion house as head designer in 2009 - provides a "perfect mix" of modern sophistication: "When I think of the new Ann Taylor I think chic, modern clothes and bold, brilliant shades. It's the perfect mix of sophisticated fashion with modern edge."
The clothes she wears in their latest advertising campaign go on sale next month.

Kate Hudson Style Clashes With Mom

Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn wore matching dresses to the Elle Women in Hollywood gala on Monday. The actress and her Hollywood legend mother accidentally attended the event in the same style one-shoulder dress, with Kate sporting one in black with iridescent paillettes by up-and-coming designer Prabal Gurung, and Goldie in a white Gianfranco Ferre design.
"When we came in we were like, 'Ooh,' and we felt, like, a one-shoulder thing happening!"
Goldie later presented Kate with one of the night's awards at the gala, hosted by Harrison Ford. Both Goldie, 64, and Kate, 31, laughed off their dress clash, but Kate admitted the harshest critic of her dress sense is her son Ryder.
"Oh my gosh, he's my biggest critic, always asking: 'What is that?' I always know when he likes it when he sees me and he doesn't say anything and he gets kind of flushed. I go, 'Uh-oh. That means you like it!'"

Almay signs actress Kate Hudson on as their new celebrity spokesperson.
The 31-year-old actress - daughter of screen comedy legend Goldie Hawn - will front the new worldwide campaign for the cosmetics brand in her new role as Global Brand Ambassador.
Kate - who replaces model Elaine Irwin-Mellencamp - said in a statement, “Almay is known for its fresh, effortless approach to beauty. I share that philosophy and I’m honored to be partnering with a brand that believes cosmetics should bring out the natural beauty inside every woman. At the end of the day, we all want to have fun and feel beautiful - that’s what Almay is all about.”
The company’s vice president of marketing Thomas Lauinger admits the Bride Wars star “embodies” the look of the company: “Almay as a brand has a very loyal consumer base. They know and love Elaine, who has been the face for many years. But now we are really going to the next level with Almay with a fresh face that reflects the image and core values of the brand and Kate really embodies that for us.”
Simply Stila: Stila’s new affordable cosmetics line

Lynn Tilton, who recently took over as CEO of luxury make-up brand Stila, recently announced plans to introduce an inexpensive line called Simply Stila to help consumers look great during the credit crunch. It’s obvious in pretty much every industry that consumers are being quite a bit more frugal with their cash, so this is a no-brainer move by Tilton and Stila.
According to Tilton, “I’ll be creating a new mass line, called Simply Stila. Of course this won’t be a $2.99 brand, but we think we can definitely retail for, say, $7.99 or $8.99. My dream for Stila is to become a base for a larger cosmetics platform. It is right out of the gates at this point, but everything we are doing is with the consumer in mind. It’s all about reaching the consumers, especially in this economy. We want to reduce the middleman and retailers and go directly to the consumer.”
Meanwhile, Lynn says the main collection - which has a host of celebrity fans, including Katherine Heigl, Kate Hudson and Lindsay Lohan - is going from strength to strength. “It has a great name, it is a superb brand and it has a tremendous talent pool. My favourite Stila product is the Bronzing Tinted Moisturizer, I think! Although everyone asks me that question I’m still getting to know Stila. I also love the 24k Lip Gloss and I use the Smudgepots all the time on my eyes.”
