Karlie Kloss and Jason Wu’s $50,000 Walk

Karlie Kloss and Jason Wu are teaming up to raise $50,000 for AIDS organizations.
The model and the designer are close friends and will head up a team called Step Forward to complete a 6.2-mile sponsored AIDS Walk around New York this Saturday. They are currently taking sponsorships to reach their target.
"The idea came about at the Met Ball with a mutual friend of ours. We were in a sea of glamour and we looked at each other and said, 'what do we do next?' The AIDS Walk became a perfect opportunity to change our ballgown and black tie for sneakers and work-out clothes. Juicy Couture is even donating a bucket of money for me to wear their clothes for the event which is amazing - it's fantastic to see my friends in the fashion community getting behind us, come on guys!" Karlie explained.
Karlie, 19, wore a custom-made pink gown by Jason to the Met ball earlier this month. She joked she had been training for the walk by getting plenty of practice on catwalks:

Jason Wu’s Feminine Scent
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty,
Jason Wu wanted his first scent reflect his "design aesthetic."
The designer launched his debut candle in March - which is a mix of rare orchids infused with a bit of Asian pear - and he says he was keen for the smell to represent his other creations.
"Florals play an important role in my designs. So for my first fragrance, I wanted to create a floral scent that would reflect my feminine design aesthetic," he said.
Jason shot to fame after designing the dress Michelle Obama wore for her husband's inaguration as president and recently said he has "a connection" with the people he is creating clothes for: "I think it's important to have a connection with the person you're dressing. Fashion is so personal and I put a lot of me into everything that I do."
Jason's strong work ethic hasn't changed despite his fame, and he still adds a personal touch to all the garments he produces: "I'm so hands on. I'm on my knees doing the fitting all the time, for every single fitting. I don't want to miss any part of it, because that's why I'm in this industry. I wanted to do that."
Jason Wu Plans to Launch Leather Range, Dreams of Couture

New York-based fashion designer Jason Wu is to create a leather goods line.
The designer, who launched his eyewear range in March, is keen to expand his fashion empire with a new collection as he thinks it will be a great addition.
“My eyewear collection is only the beginning of my accessories range, stay tuned for later this year - there is more to come. Now that I have an established ready-to-wear business it seems to be the natural step to expand into the world of Jason Wu. There is so much more I would like to do to complete the vision.”
Jason - who counts Michelle Obama among his celebrity fans - has been spending a lot of time in Florence, Italy, researching his new range: “The beautifully ornate architecture has been very inspiring. I always find great inspiration while I travel.”
The 27 year-old designer also has an eye on couture: “I have always loved the art of couture and appreciate the rich history and awe inspiring craftsmanship. I loved many of the shows but my favorite experience was the YSL retrospective at the Petit Palais which really was so compelling.”

CFDA Honors McQueen

Sarah Jessica Parker posthumously awarded the late Alexander McQueen at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) last night. The Sex and the City 2 actress gave a speech as she honored the British fashion designer, who committed suicide in February, with the Board of Directors Special Tribute Award.
“I don’t think one brief segment of the evening could really illustrate what he meant to the industry or to the people that worked with him or to his family - so it’s a very hard thing to try to be brief and substantive in a matter of two minutes. But I think his work speaks for him more than I could.”
A McQueen runway show then followed, which included a display of the designer’s fashion pieces, leaving some members of the audience in tears.

From Derek Lam and Alexander Wang to Max Azria and Jason Wu (and many more!), a quick recap of New York Fashion Week is covered in this 5-minute clip, spliced with interview clips from designers and celebrity fans.
Designer Phillip Lim had quite a tongue-twisting way of describing his collection: “It is about the mystery woman. Us as voyeurs, us being curious as who this woman is and how she goes on about her life, from day to night, weekend to weekday. And it starts with the idea of deconstructing construction to reconstructed.”
And you should hear what Michael Kors had to say about a certain pet peeve…
