Tom Ford Womenswear Fashion Show Unveiled
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Models, Videos,
A sneak peek from Emily Blunt in Harper's Bazaar and full-length images at Vogue are simply not enough when it comes to viewing Tom Ford's Spring/Summer 2011 womenswear collection. Thankfully, the designer does have a heart enough to offer fashion hungry fans a video of his line's private show.
In the video, a handful of fashion editors stare in awe and amazement at the collection, which was modeled by an interesting mix of celebrities and models -- from Daphne Guinness and Lauren Hutton to Beyonce and Julianne Moore. Set to model Karen Elson's song, "Pretty Babies," the video's cuts flash (unfortunately) as frequently as Terry Richardson's camera. They may be quick looks of the designs, but it's definitely better than nothing!

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Shows, Models, News,
Akong and Katy Perry will perform at this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
The “Teenage Dream” singer and the rapper will provide the musical entertainment at the annual event for the lingerie giants, which will feature a host of Victoria’s Secret Angels including Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Candice Swanepoel, Chanel Iman, Erin Heatherton and Lily Aldridge.
Adriana Lima has been chosen to model this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra - decorated with a starburst design and featuring 2,000 diamonds - valued at $3 million.
Although a host of beauties will be there, it was revealed last month that Heidi Klum would no longer be working with the fashion brand. The supermodel had been with the company for 13 years but announced she was hanging up her angel wings and would not be strutting down the runway in the annual November show.
This year’s show will take place in New York on November 30th and the live broadcast will include red carpet interviews, model profiles and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the fashion show.
Gossip Girl Taught Ed Westwick About Fashion
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Editorials,
Ed Westwick thinks his fashion sense has improved since starring in Gossip Girl.
The British actor, who plays Chuck Bass in the teen drama, admitted he has had to “step up his game” after learning about different looks and styles from various designers and industry experts.
“My fashion consciousness - and self consciousness - have definitely grown over the course of being on the show. All the exposure and all the experience I’ve had of different sides of the industry means I have a better knack of how to put things together. We’ve all been to fashion shows, we’ve worked with designers in different capacities, on fashion shoots. You learn about different looks and colors. I’ve definitely stepped up my game.”
The hunky star explained that his favorite look out of the recent shoots he has done would be an English country gentleman style that made him look as though he was “going shooting with Prince Charles.”
“My favorite one was by Band of Outsiders. It was a grey flannelly wool-type trouser, brown shoes - no socks, of course - white shirt, grey waistcoat. It was chic but smart-casual, great for late summer, early autumn. I’m going to have to go out and grab that one. Then, they wanted an English look so I wore this plaid jacket with dark shirt and pants. I looked like I was going shooting with Prince Charles.”
Jessica Simpson Leaves Skinny Models Out of Fashion Show

Jessica Simpson is to use real women to model her fashion collection.
The curvy singer - who has faced criticism for her weight in the past - is reportedly set to turn her back on the trend of using skinny models in her New York Fashion Week show in September, and instead has decided to use real women to showcase her clothing collection.
“Jessica Simpson plans to unveil her latest collection for the media at New York Fashion Week in September, but there’s a twist. Instead of using super-skinny models to showcase her designs, Jessica has decided to send her best friends - real women in real sizes - down the aisle. This is the amount of the brand’s retail grand revenue, not what Jessica takes home. She attends all business meetings and makes all major decisions. She’s a sharp businesswoman and knows what women want,” a source said.
The 30-year-old blonde admitted her television show The Price of Beauty - which sees Jessica travel the globe to investigate some of the extreme lengths some women will go to in order to look good - has finally helped her accept to her body shape: “We all obsess over looking like the perfect Barbie type, and that’s not always what’s beautiful. It’s about making peace with yourself.”
Julien MacDonald Clarifies Plus-Size Statement
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Health & Beauty, Models, News,
Britain’s Next Top Model judge and fashion designer Julien MacDonald recently came under fire for negative comments towards plus-size models. “There were no plus-size models. This is a serious show… You can’t have a plus size girl winning—it makes it a joke,” he said of the television show. Now MacDonald is back tracking
clarifying his statement.
“I absolutely think that plus-size models stand a chance of having a long term modeling career… But as I have already said, in certain sectors of the industry they are in much less demand. In certain parts of the fashion industry samples are made in smaller sizes, therefore it is far more difficult for a plus-size model to be successful.”
The former creative director of Givenchy also commended fellow British designer Mark Fast, who has been heralded for using plus-size models in his latest shows: “There have been some great initiatives in the fashion industry to use plus-size models. And it is great that Mark Fast is challenging convention. I have always loved strong, sexy, empowered women who walk well.”
You know that you’re part of the minority when Karl Lagerfeld, who had consistently put down
plus-size
“round” women, featured size 12 model Crystal Renn in his 2011 resort show.

Fashion Police: Picnic Ready Diane Kruger
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News,

A stylish look is never complete without a picnic basket…
A favorite of Karl Lagerfeld, it’s no surprise that model-turned-actress Diane Kruger appeared at the Chanel Cruise Show in St. Tropez last night. Kruger, who is the new face of Calvin Klein’s fragrance Beauty, paired a Chanel high-waisted bell-shaped skirt with a simple black tank and fedora in addition to the somewhat-out-of-place basket.
Over the top or just right for a prim and proper Chanel party?

Jessica Simpson a Runway Model?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Shows, Models,

Has Jessica Simpson traded in concerts stages for the runway?
Although her name is attached to a line of shoes, handbags, perfume and lingerie, the catwalk gig is not something we’re used to seeing from Simpson. Thankfully, someone allowed her to use her best serious face in Ozlem Suer’s fashion show. (You can see more stills after the jump.)
Her appearance in Paris was, of course, documented for a reality project. Jessica, who has had highly-documented struggles with weight, is currently filming The Price of Beauty for VH1. In the series, the 29-year-old will travel the globe to chat with various women about the beauty industry. (Cue her Proactiv commercials now.)
No word yet when Price will debut.

Marc Jacobs Dreads Fashion Week Stress
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Women,
Marc Jacobs the Fierce is dreading New York Fashion Week.
The US fashion designer admits the extra work involved in showcasing his collection is very stressful for him. When asked if he is excited about next month’s prestigious event, he replied: “No. Do I enjoy it? Enjoy is a weird word. It’s work - work is more what it’s about. It’s not fun.”
Although he is not looking forward to fashion week, Marc is excited at the prospect of marrying his boyfriend Lorenzo Martone.
He said: “It will happen soon. The wedding will be very quiet, just the two of us. We’re keeping it very simple.”
While the prospect of fashion week is filling him with dread, Marc recently described himself as a “cheerleader,” as he has the ability to inspire people around him and motivate his staff if he is in a good mood.
He said: “I am a bit of a cheerleader. I have to stimulate people, or I feel it is my role to stimulate people. So the better my attitude is and the better I’m feeling, the better everybody feels about being around me. What I give is definitely what I get back.”
