With a new live-action/CGI movie coming out in mere weeks, it makes sense to reminisce about Optimus Prime locking horns with Megatron. Pound for pound they stand very evenly matched in a classic showdown between good and evil. Our second round continues to transform and roll out as we review the match-ups from last week and serve up two more confrontations to ponder. So take a break from your football cheat sheets for a few minutes, and flip it back to hoops!

It seems that the NBA Finals ended almost quickly as they started, but for all of us NBA draftniks whose teams were not the Spurs or Cavs it’s time to more concretely look forward to next season - it’s NBA Draft time. However, NBA general managers and scouts aren’t the only ones that need to keep an eye out for prospects to draft. Every
fantasy basketball manager would be wise to stay on top of the incoming rooks. Using my NBA Mock Draft over at About.com as a guide, here are the potential fantasy values for ten of the more noteworthy players that you should keep tabs on.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and grandfathers out there. Here’s a picture of players from my dad’s time, Wilt the Stilt and Bill Russell, two of the all-time greats.Enjoy the day surrounded by your loved ones as they spend about 40% of what they did last month for Mother’s Day! Dropping Dimes is giving props to each and every one of you, including LeBron James and Bruce Bowen, who received new additions to their families during the NBA Finals. The second round in our one-on-one tourney kicks off today, but first we look back on the four players that headlined the past week, and ask them, “Who’s your daddy?”

Dropping Dimes One-on-One Tourney: Round 1, Games 15 and 16

The first round of our one-one-one tourney concludes this week with two marquee bouts. Hopefully the Cavs are still alive and kicking when our second round kicks off. The likes of Kobe, KG and Agent Zero could await the winners of this week’s match-ups, as we hope to drive towards something along the lines of today’s Federer-Nadal match in the French Open. But first we survey the damage from last week.

Congratulations to the Cleveland Cavaliers for making the NBA Finals! I am sure everyone other than Pistons fans are glad to see you on the ticket. ‘Bron in Game 5 will be a performance put on par with the other greats and their awesome games when the stakes were high.
Kobe and ‘Bron kicked off our tourney more than a month and a half ago. The votes did not fall ‘Bron’s way; would things be different if he could ride his current momentum against Mr. Trade Me/Don’t Trade Me? Never fear, because as always, we have two nice match-ups for you to consider.

Cue the music! Nothing gets me pumped like classic Rocky! Our fight card as usual features two great contests, but first we survey what has transpired over the past week!
And if the Rocky vs. Drago reference does not give you a hint, this week the theme involves a USA-homegrown player versus someone from international lands! Perhaps there is a bit of the underdog versus the intimidating champ, but which is which? You decide!

Dropping Dimes One-on-One Tourney: Round 1, Games 9 and 10

With Games 7 and 8 wrapping up, our one-on-one tourney finds itself halfway through the first round! So far the winners include Kobe Bryant, Gilbert Arenas, and Tony Parker. Unlike the conference semi-finals, Shawn Marion gets to move on with Tim Duncan.
The buzz has been about how suspensions to Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw tainted the Spurs-Suns series. Also it has come to light what a cheap shot artist Bruce Bowen is. And I do mean artist...he’s the Picasso of the gut punch! Have no fear as Bowen did not receive an invitation to our tourney. But I do have him pictured defending one of our contestants, someone who has gone on record saying just how much he appreciates Bruce’s play.

Our one-on-one tourney rolls on with a pair of match-ups featuring four pros who are in their prime. This type of contest is sure to be cutthroat; you just know that back in the day Dr. J and Larry Legend would have been up for it. So who do you, our readers pick to move on to the next round?

LeBron: Second Team All NBA?
Posted by Scott Sargent Categories: Central Division, Cleveland Cavaliers, Editorial, Props, Talent,
Now, I know DroppingDimes.com is a fantasy hoops blog. I just can’t help but direct you guys to Brian Windhorst’s blog post today. For those of you that don’t know Windhorst, he’s one of the best beat writers in the league today - and thankfully, he covers the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He’s so well respected that he’s frequently mentioned in Henry Abbott’s TrueHoop Blog, as well as Dan Steinberg’s Washington Post Blog (DC Sports Bog). Why should you check out today’s post? Well, he does a little “digging” if you will, and by “digging,” I mean simple math to show you how LeBron James got screwed out of the First Team All-NBA.

Dropping Dimes One-on-One Tourney: Round 1, Games 5 and 6

So far in this tourney, we’ve had speed vs. speed, small vs. big, and talent vs. experience. Now we move on to the metaphorical unstoppable force against the unmovable object and pit two big men against in each other in this week’s pair of match-ups.
Remember that year David Robinson won the league MVP, and “the Dream” gave him a message during the playoffs by outplaying him? The question of the day is how would these four men step up to the challenge!
