Lindsay Lohan: Free From Jail, For Now
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Music, Child Stars, Legal Issues, Paparazzi Photos,
Lindsay Lohan’s $40,000 bail has been posted, and she’s free to roam all the jewelry stores in downtown Los Angeles . . . for now. The former child star pled not guilty on Wednesday to the felony grand theft charge she received for allegedly swiping a $2500 necklace from a Venice, California jewelry shop.
Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman-Holley, argues that Linds believed she was borrowing the piece. It is not uncommon for jewelry stores to lend out important pieces to celebs who will be photographed wearing the items, but in this case the jewelry store says no way -- Lindsay Lohan took the necklace without their consent or knowledge.
The actress must go back to court on February 23 to argue her innocence. Lohan could receive up to 3 years in prison for grand theft, if the charge sticks, on top of additional jail time for violating her probation. Lohan is on probation following her 2007 DUI arrest, and this won’t expire until August 11.

Lindsay Lohan May Get Out of Rehab Early, Too
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: D-List, Movies, Music, Child Stars, Legal Issues, Rumors,
Prosecutor Danette Meyers has stated that Lindsay Lohan may be released from her 90-day rehab sentence early. Linds has already served a shortened jail sentence, and it seems luck is still with her.
Meyers released this statement: “My understanding from conversations with [Lindsay’s lawyer] Shawn Chapman Holley is that Miss Lohan could be released early from the treatment facility. It is looking as if that is what the health care professionals are going to recommend. How much earlier she could be released I’m unsure of at this point. I will follow what the health care professional advise.”
However, Lindsay’s commitment won’t quite be over even once she’s sprung from rehab. Meyers also said that the early release could “involve follow up treatment for Miss Lohan.”

Lindsay Lohan Update: Upset With Post-Jail Commitments
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Music, Child Stars, Legal Issues, Paparazzi Videos,
Lindsay Lohan’s once-and-again lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley recently spoke with paparazzi while walking to her car after visiting the actress in jail. She says Linds is “a little upset right now” over the judge’s rehab ruling, a sentence which will be invoked once Lohan is released from jail.
Judge Revel ruled that Linds will begin a stay in rehab once she’s sprung from the pokey. But now that she’s had some time alone Lohan isn’t at all happy with the sentence. Holley says Lohan wants to spend time with her family after being released from jail, not go straight to rehab.
And we all know the Lohan family environment is extremely therapeutic indeed, surely the best thing for a girl who’s in jail for violating the terms of her probation after being hooked up to an alcohol monitoring bracelet at the age of 24. Lindsay’s family is just what she needs right now - not the safe, controlled environment of rehab. Sheesh.

Lindsay Lohan Officially in Jail
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Music, Child Stars, Legal Issues, Videos,
UPDATE: L.A. sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore says it’s likely Lohan will only spend 14 days in jail.
You won’t be seeing any more tweets from Lindsay Lohan for at least a little while.
The 24-year-old, who was once again running late for a date in court, arrived at the Beverly Hills courthouse early this morning to be remanded into custody. Lindsay, who was accompanied by on/off attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, had to face Judge Marsha Revel one more time before formally starting her 90-day jail sentence.
Lindsay didn’t speak during the brief court appearance, but nervously watched on, biting her nails.
It was claimed by Holley that Robert Shapiro - who reportedly quit as Lindsay’s lawyer last night - was never officially hired to represent her and only worked as a “consultant.” (Shapiro supposedly joined Lindsay’s legal team earlier in the week after Holley resigned, and then allowed her to stay in the Pickford Lofts sober living house he founded.)

Lindsay Lohan Loses Latest Lawyer
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Child Stars, Legal Issues, Breaking News,
I know one shouldn’t focus on alliterative titles at a time like this, but…
Less than 24 hours before she is supposed to enter jail, Lindsay Lohan has a new problem: she doesn’t have someone to escort her to the courthouse Tuesday morning.
The last time the troubled actress appeared before Judge Marsha Revel, Shawn Chapman Holley was the lawyer fighting on Lindsay’s behalf. Unfortunately, Shawn (understandably) parted ways with Lohan after the sentencing.
Although Robert Shapiro - one of O.J. Simpson’s former attorneys - had been hired to handle Lilo’s appeal, he informed the judge late today that he is no longer representing his client. It’s not known why Shapiro made the last-minute decision, though it’s believed Lohan may not have fully cooperated with his requirements.

Probation Extended For Nicole Richie
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Television, Celebrity Babies, Drunk, Legal Issues, Where Are They Now?,
Lindsay Lohan could learn something from Nicole Richie, who recently extended her probation.
The socialite - who was put on probation in 2006 following a driving under the influence (DUI) offence, after being arrested for driving the wrong way down a Los Angeles motorway and failing a sobriety test - was told it wouldn’t be terminated next month as expected, because she hasn’t attended enough alcohol education classes.
According to her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley - who appeared in a Los Angeles court yesterday - the 28-year-old starlet failed to complete the course because she has been too busy looking after her children Harlow, two, and nine-month-old Sparrow, her kids with her rocker fiance Joel Madden.
Her probation period has now been extended to March 2011, but the judge has promised to terminate it early if she completed the alcohol program before then. Despite the extension, Nicole has been praised for her work on the course so far. Her report states, “Her attitude is excellent.”
