The countdown to the royal wedding started several days before the event, but things really got exciting when mother of the bride Carole Middleton and son James Middleton (Kate's younger brother) arrived at Westminster Abbey. Royal Wedding: How You Can Attend

The royal wedding commences on April 29 at 8:30 am, London time. For Stateside viewers, that translates to 3:30 am EST. But in case you want to sleep in a little, People has published an itinerary of all the day’s events, and we’ve figured out how you can watch every bit so you can pre-set your DVR.
To kick off the day, Queen Elizabeth II will give the bride and groom their royal titles. Guests are expected to begin arriving to Westminster Abbey at 8:45 am in London. For all the really early wedding coverage, you’ll have to turn to CNN. The cable news network plans to start covering the event at 2:00 am EST with a pre-show; their full coverage continues until 10:00 am. MSNBC will also be covering the event early enough to catch the Queen’s arrival; their broadcast begins at 3:00 am EST. TLC’s pre-wedding coverage starts at 3:30 am.
Carole Middleton, the mother of the bride, won’t get to the church until 10:30 am London time (5:30 am EST). Other important wedding party members will arrive after Mrs. Middleton. Prince Phillip, groom Prince William and all the bridesmaids, including Kate’s sis Pippa Middleton will be at the church by 10:50.

Royal Wedding: No Wedding Ring for Prince William

The royal wedding will be filled with traditional elements, but there's at least one the new couple won't be observing. Even after he ties the knot with Kate Middleton, Prince William won’t be wearing a wedding ring. According to a rep, “It is the couple’s wishes to have one ring. It will be a Welsh gold ring that will be from Prince William to Kate.” A gold Welsh ring sounds like an appropriate token of affection to the future Princess of Wales.
The nugget of gold has been in the family vault, given to William by his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth II Doles Out Final Honors of 2009

Peter Jackson and Patrick Stewart have been given one of Her Majesty’s highest honors - both men have been knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. Jackson is the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind the Lord of the Rings flicks. He’s currently working on The Hobbit.
Patrick Stewart gained big attention on the small screen as Star Trek captain Jean-Luc Picard. He’s more recently known in film as Professor X of X-Men fame. Stewart enjoyed many years working as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company in Britain before he became a major player on network TV.

Celebrity Chatter: Miley Meets the Queen, Hulk’s Engaged, Uma’s Single

-Miley Cyrus had a date with the Queen Monday in London. After her Royal Variety Awards performance, the 16-year-old took off the hotpants and wore a cleavage-baring dress for a meeting with Her Majesty. (Hopefully the gown concealed her new tattoo.)
-Hulk Hogan’s nasty divorce won’t keep him from walking down the aisle again. The 56-year-old wrestler (a.k.a. Terry Bollea) is now planning to marry Jennifer McDaniel. Hulk and ex Linda settled their divorce earlier this summer; they were married in 1983.
-The Accidental Husband‘s Uma Thurman is not going to be a bride after all. Her engagement to Arpad Busson was reportedly called off about two months ago. The two began dating back in 2007.
-Bryant Gumbel recently had a malignant tumor and part of his lung removed. Gumbel revealed the cancer news to Kelly Ripa while filling in for Regis Philbin this morning. (Philbin took time off to have hip surgery.)
