The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star contacted Kim Ledger, the father of the late actor, to let him know that he is there for his granddaughter, six-year-old Matilda Rose, as well as her mother Michelle Williams.
The My Life With Marilyn actress and the Ledger family endured a battle after the Dark Knight Rises star's tragic death in 2008, arguing over inheritance and who should get his various awards. However, they have recently buried the hatchet and her partner Jason is hoping they can all get along.
"Jason got on the phone and introduced himself to Kim, and then invited the Ledgers to use his home whenever they wanted to fly in from Australia to visit Michelle and Maddie. Kim was blown away by Jason's generosity and the two hit it off right away. Now Kim's given his blessing for Jason to marry Michelle and be a stepdad to Matilda," a source said.

Jason Segel ‘Smitten’ With Michelle Williams

The couple have only been dating for three months but pals of the How I Met Your Mother actor say he has never felt this way before.
"Jason is totally smitten. It's like the first girl he's ever been this way with," a source said. The insider added that Michelle - who has a six-year-old daughter Matilda from her relationship with the late Heath Ledger - "hasn't been this happy in forever."
Recently, the pair enjoyed a "lovey-dovey" date as they spent a romantic evening watching James Corden's One Man, Two Guvnors Broadway show at the Music Box Theatre on West 45th Street, New York. "They look very lovey-dovey. She looks so pretty in white, and he's in a suit," an audience member said.
Previously, the blonde beauty was seen leaning in and kissing Jason on the cheek and rubbing his back at the after-party of the premiere of his latest movie The Five Year Engagement in April. The 32-year-old actor was also spotted holding the 31-year-old star's hand and whispering in her ear at the New York event.

Jason Segel has revealed how he was rejected by Hillary Clinton.
The funnyman has previously joked that the former First Lady is the mystery matriarch on his show How I Met Your Mother, and after hearing his repeated references to her, Hillary wrote Jason a hilarious note turning town the chance to appear on screen with him.
"'Everyone always asks me, like on a red carpet or wherever, 'Who is the mother?' I always say Hillary Clinton as a joke. I got a letter in the mail. I got a rejection letter from Hillary Clinton," he said on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Jason Segel Confirms Michelle Williams Romance

Jason Segel has confirmed he is dating Michelle Williams.
The Five-Year Engagement star was first photographed with Dawson's Creek alum last month, and has now confirmed they are indeed an item.
"I think we would just very much like to be happy. That's all I'm going to say about it," he said when Extra asked about their romance.
His current co-star and off-screen friend Emily Blunt jokes that the 32-year-old actor has significantly matured thanks to Michelle: "He's a man-boy! He used to be a boy-boy and now he's a man-boy."
"I think I might even be becoming a man-man ... potentially!" Jason added.
Michelle knew Jason for years through mutual friend Busy Philips, before their romance, "kind of happened overnight," according to US Weekly. A source says Jason has been making a conscious effort to behave more maturely to show his "commitment" to Michelle.

Michelle Williams is reportedly dating Jason Segel.
The My Week With Marilyn actress - who has a six-year-old daughter, Matilda, with late ex-fiance Heath Ledger - is said to have seen her long friendship with the Muppets star grow increasingly serious in the last few weeks.
"They are smitten and very serious," a source said.
The pair were spotted taking a romantic stroll in New York after a meal at Frankie's Spuntino on Saturday. "He put his arm around her and made her laugh as they walked. They seemed very relaxed," one onlooker told Us Weekly magazine.
The following day, 32-year-old Jason was seen bonding with Michelle's daughter as she went for a ride on her scooter. While Michelle and Matilda reside in New York and Jason is based in Los Angeles, the new couple are hopeful they can make their relationship work.
