Bleeding Edge TV 511: Giving up smartphones for 24 hours [#DigitallyDark]

We are going #DigitallyDark, giving up our smartphones for a full 24 hours as part of the challenge thrown down by Absolute LoJack.

We talk about our thoughts on having a smartphone or laptop stolen, and talk about the #DigitallyDark challenge, which you can join us in doing!

The fact of the matter is that smartphone and laptop theft are running rampant, and once your device is gone, it's near impossible to get it back. Even the built-in tools can be circumvented. Absolute LoJack takes device recovery to the next level. They'll locate, lock, delete, and even guarantee recovery of your Mac, PC, or Android device. You can get 30% off of Absolute LoJack until 6/30 with promo code: DARK30.

Bleeding Edge TV 510: How to install the Nest Protect

We show you how to install the Nest Protect smart smoke & carbon monoxide detector in this episode. The Nest Protect gets affiliated with your Nest account, which allows it to communicate with other Nest Protect devices in your home over Wi-Fi, as well as the Nest Smart Thermostat. It lights your path when you walk under it, and uses a proximity sensor to know when you are home in order to assist the thermostat in saving money. It also uses a human voice to alert you of fire and carbon monoxide danger. If you have any questions about the setup process, let us know over on our Patreon page.

Don't forget to check out our Nest Protect unboxing, and Nest Protect setup video as well!

Bleeding Edge TV 509: How to set up Nest Protect

Bleeding Edge TV 507: HTC One (M8) vs. HTC One (M7)

In this episode I give you a comparison review of the HTC One (M8) vs. the original HTC One. Last year, I named the HTC One as my favorite Android smartphone, and this year the HTC One M8 has a great chance at claiming the title again. We've received a bunch of questions from readers asking about the differences between the two devices, and if it is worth upgrading from the 2013 model to the new HTC One M8.

I go through each major change and upgrade (and, in one case, a downgrade) to give you a thorough look at what's new and what's changed!

Bleeding Edge TV 482: Play-Fi multi-room music streaming

We chat with Play-Fi in this episode, a company focused on helping you enjoy your music in any room, no matter where you are in your home. Play-Fi allows you to use either their speakers, speakers from third-parties with Play-Fi built-in, or their receiver which can be connected to any analog speaker, and you are done. The devices connect to your Wi-Fi network, and you can then stream content from your Windows 8 tablet or PC, as well as your Android devices, directly to any Play-Fi speaker on your network. Get a look at how it all works here in this episode, and get a look at Kelsie dancing as well.

Bleeding Edge TV 481: HTC One review

We bring you our HTC One review, taking a look at the hardware of the device that many are calling the best to come out of HTC ever. The HTC One is an Android smartphone with the custom BlinkFeed homescreen, and the UltraPixel camera (according to HTC) that stands above the rest of the smartphone camera market. HTC Zoe features are built into the camera as well, bringing power and flexibility to the camer app on the software side. The unibody aluminum construction also stands out to make this a beautiful device, and Beats Audio keeps the sound pumping. We go over all of this and more in our HTC One video review in this episode of Bleeding Edge TV!

Bleeding Edge TV 466: Samsung Galaxy Camera review

We review the Samsung Galaxy Camera in this episode, the Android-powered point-and-shoot that joins the Galaxy line. Being a full-featured Android device, the Galaxy Camera functions both as a smartphone (without the phone part, so maybe, a really small tablet) and a full-fledged point-and-shoot camera. We like the form factor when taking images, and the display is large, bright, crisp, and clear at 4.77-inches Super Clear Touch. You can pick up the Galaxy Camera on Amazon.
