‘True Blood’ Actor Luke Grimes Exits Show

Luke GrimesTrue Blood fans might be a little confused when they tune in next summer.

Luke Grimes - who first appeared in last summer's season six as Jessica's (Deborah Ann Woll) love interest James - will not be returning for the series' final season. Instead, his role will be recast. It has been reported that Grimes asked to be released from his contract early because he didn't like the direction in which his character's storyline was headed.

His character, James, and Woll's Jessica met while held in a vampire detainment facility, which saw them released from it together in season six's finale.

There's no word yet as to who will fill in Grimes' shoes as James on the hit vampire drama, but the show is due to begin production next month for season 7.

Grimes will next be seen as Christan Grey's (Jamie Dornan) brother Elliot in the highly-anticipated film Fifty Shades of Grey.

‘True Blood’ Guest Star Adina Porter Upgraded to Series Regular

(WARNING: Spoilers ahead!)

Adina Porter as Lettie Mae on 'True Blood'Prepare yourself for more Lettie Mae Thornton Daniels next summer on True Blood! Adina Porter, the actress who portrays Tara's alcoholic-turned-Bible-thumper mom, has been promoted to a series regular on the hit HBO show.

Though Porter has been a part of the vampire drama since its first season, her character had been in and out of the spotlight the past season; however, it's no surprise that we'll be seeing more of Lettie Mae considering how the show left off with her begging Tara to feed off her (as if they're going to kill off a gem of a character like Lettie Mae).

Porter starred in two seasons of another popular HBO show, The Newsroom, and has also appeared on Grey's Anatomy and American Horror Story.

True Blood's next - and final! - season airs next summer.

‘True Blood’ Series to Conclude Next Summer

Stephen Moyer as Bill on 'True Blood'

Shortly following what many True Blood fans believe to be the most rewarding flashiest season finale of the show ever, HBO has announced that the vamp soap opera will be coming to an end next year, marking its seventh season.

HBO's president of programming Michael Lombardo released a statement concerning the announcement: "True Blood has been nothing short of a defining show for HBO. Alan Ball took the books by Charlaine Harris, assembled a brilliant cast led by the magnificent Anna Paquin in the role of Sookie Stackhouse, and crafted a show that has taken its many devoted fans on an unforgettable journey. Alan passed the baton to Brian Buckner, who led our fantastic writers and crew in crafting a spectacular sixth season, and he will lead us through the seventh and final season of this amazing show. Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show."

‘True Blood’ Stars Hint at Major Character Death This Season

While most True Blood fans are excited that the hit HBO series is back on their small screens, they might be saddened to find out that one of the vampire show's beloved characters will be getting axed this season. Though Carrie Preston - who plays Arlene Bellfleur - didn't divulge any names, she talks about how the tears were shed during a table reading for the script: "We had this one table read, the first time we were hearing the script out loud, and one of the actors started crying and then everybody joined in. It was a pretty beautiful moment."

Todd Lowe, who portrays Preston's husband Terry on the series, also confirmed the "major death" in an upcoming episode: "It was just a big surprise. I had gotten the script late and hadn't looked into it, so I was kind of like, 'Oh! Wow! That's different.' It saddened a lot of people."

Alan Ball Penning a New Series

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Announcements, Gossip,

Alan BallWhile some True Blood fans are mourning the loss of creator/showrunner Alan Ball, they shouldn't be too sad, considering the Oscar-winning writer is moving on to develop a brand new series (which is undoubtedly due to be just as addictive as his previous shows).

"I have a series idea that I'm working on and writing on spec and have two screenplays I'm trying to put together and I'm working on another one and then I have another one that's halfway finished... [The show] is unlike either Six Feet Under or True Blood; it's very different. I'd definitely say it's a drama but it's too early to talk about."

Ball didn't share much else about his new project, but he was happy to speak about handing over the reigns of showrunning and returning to his writing roots.

Speaking at a premiere party for True Blood's upcoming season six, Ball reflected on his departure from running a major TV show to his humble habit: "I'm just writing for the love of writing, getting back to what it used to be with just me and the computer."

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, HBO, Gossip,

Alexander Skarsgard, Anna Paquin, and Stephen MoyerAnna Paquin says her husband is completely comfortable watching her sex scenes with Alexander Skarsgard.

The 29-year-old actress, is married to Stephen Moyer - who is her True Blood co-star - and says that the two men are friends which makes it easier.

"We feel completely comfortable together. Everyone is very respectful of each other's boundaries ... They're all very gentlemanly about it," she said.

Anna, who plays Sookie Stackhouse in the show, met Stephen, who plays vampire Bill Compton, on the set of the program. Their characters were also lovers, but later split up on screen.

Anna - who is pregnant with twins - admitted that she has two sides to her personality and although she will be a maternal parent, she may also get urges to run away with her family: "I have a side that's very nesty. And another that thinks, 'Let's lock up the house and go away for five months.'"

VIDEO: New True Blood Teaser

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, HBO, Video,

With nearly just a month to go until the new season of True Blood returns, the showrunners continue to offer up even more delectable teasers on their YouTube page.

In the latest upload, Christopher Meloni of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit fame is unveiled as an upcoming vampire performing some type of ritual. IMDB lists his character as Roman, but the clip seems to indicate that he's also known as the Vampyr (we all know how important he must be if he spells the word in an exotic way). The all-important vampyr combined with the robes and dungeon setting gives me a bit of the Twilight Volturi vibe.

True Blood season 5 premieres on June 10.

Taylor Swift on Next True Blood Episode

Taylor SwiftJust when you thought that True Blood couldn't get any better... they hire Taylor Swift! Well, her vocal talents, anyway.

The country pop singer's track "Haunted," has been confirmed by the show's music supervisor Gary Calamar that it will appear on tomorrow's episode of the hit vampire show, "Run."

Calamar wouldn't divulge the juicy details as to which scene the Speak Now track will play to, but he did reveal that it's "a racy, sexy scene." Given the star's squeaky clean image, Swift's team initially prohibited the song from the episode's soundtrack; however, Taylor stepped in herself and said otherwise.

As for the last episode -- titled "And When I Die" -- Calamar offered some insight as to whom the title may or may not refer to: "Vampires don't really die, so I'll say it's not a vampire. They won't face the true death. But some of our main characters do run into a little bad luck in the final episode."
