VIDEO: ‘Community’ Stars Poke Fun of ‘True Detective’

True Detective may be one of HBO's hottest shows right now, but Community stars Joel McHale and Jim Rash aren't so sure that everyone truly understands what Matthew McConaughey (Rust) and Woody Harrelson (Marty) are saying in the cop drama.

For a short segment on McHale's satiric E! talk show, The Soup, the comedian slips into McConaughey's role while Rash pulls of his impression of Harrelson on the new series. In recreating key scenes, the pair not only exaggerate the characters' southern accents but also spout some nonsensical dialogue, a crack at the show's lines rich that are rich with metaphors.

Regardless of whether or not folks can understand what Rust and Marty are saying every Sunday night, it doesn't seem to be hurting viewership!

At the Oscars: The 83rd Annual Academy Awards

James Franco and Anne Hathaway Hosting 83rd Academy AwardsThe 83rd Academy Awards opened with a montage of the handful of movies they’ve decided to honor this year. As usual, all nominations came from a select, certain group of movies in the long list that came out during 2010. If you didn’t see The Social Network, The King’s Speech, The Fighter, Black Swan or True Grit, the Oscars wanted you to feel like they’re absolutely can’t-miss films.

But, the award show did offer more than the usual back-patting the actors give themselves once a year.

“Oh my gosh, you’re all real…this is all happening,” Anne Hathaway grinned from the stage as the smoke cleared. Her diamond-covered white gown was a perfect choice for the opening monologue, which was peppered with jokes about James Franco’s nomination and Hathaway’s lack of one (“it used to be, you get naked, you get nominated…not any more”).

Whether you’re watching it for the first time, or for the fifth time—this is some funny s**t.

On last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Academy Awards special, the host gave us an inside look at the HMC, a.k.a. the Handsome Men’s Club.

Several items were on the agenda during the club’s meeting yesterday. Are Robert Pattinson and Taylor worthy of induction—or are they merely cute? (The Office‘s John Krasinksi already fills the club’s “cute” quota.) Should be allowed to change his name to “Handsome” Hawke? (Answer: Yes.) Is Jimmy Kimmel good-looking enough to even be in the club—let alone be it’s president?

Find out what happens - and who betrays Kimmel - in the video above.

Posted by Shannon Bennett Categories: News,

Jenniger GarnerThe former star of ABC’s Alias has signed onto NewLine’s new project, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. will act opposite in the feature set for released in 2008.  The film will be focused around McConaughey’s character, as he is haunted by ex girlfriends at his kid brother’s wedding.  Garner will be playing his current girlfriend and “the one” he has to get right this time around.

It sounds a little Dickens to us, but as long as Jen’s got screentime, we support it.  Can she please, please have a gun?  Or at least a disguise?  Magenta Wig?  No?

The Year’s Hottest Bachelor: Matthew McConaughey

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Talent, Gossip,

Matthew McConaughey People magazine has named “Bachelor of the Year.” He’s pictured on the cover, wearing his trademark smile and little else (because if women are looking at McConaughey, they’d rather see him shirtless). The actor says he doesn’t follow a particular exercise regimen – perhaps good looks just come naturally to the Failure to Launch star? When it comes to the ladies, McConaughey is looking for a combination of “hotness and humor,” though he says any woman with a good sense of humor is hot. The 37-year-old isn’t just hot, he’s single. After his People interview, the world’s female comediennes will surely make a play for this Hollywood hunk.
