-30 Rock will be throwing in a Saturday Night Live-esque twist this fall. On October 14, actors from the NBC comedy will do two live primetime tapings—one for each coast.
-Mary Hart has announced that she will leave Entertainment Tonight after completing her 30th year with the program. It’s believed Lara Spencer, host of The Insider, will eventually take over her spot.
-You knew she couldn’t keep away for long. Former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell will once again return to daytime with a new show next year. The program will air on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN.
-Can’t think of a better show title for Cougar Town? Well, neither can the producers. Although the comedy is considered to be an ensemble program, the ABC series will be keeping its name.
-Actor Jeff Goldblum has decided to leave Law & Order: Criminal Intent after two years with the program. “Uncertainty” about the show’s future reportedly played a part in his decision.

Did everyone just assume Adam Lambert was going to win? Over 100 million votes were cast for the Idol finale, but less than a third of that figure bothered to watch. Last night’s two-hour extravaganza tied the smallest audience numbers for an ender since Season 1. Meanwhile, the program had the lowest 18-49 performance for a closer…ever.
8pm
- American Idol 8 (28.8 million, 10/28 in 18-49) was down approximately 3 million from American Idol 7.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (5.7 million, 1.6/5) fell by 800,000; Gary Unmarried (1.7/5) wrapped up with 5.6 million.
- Law & Order: Criminal Intent (5 million, 1.1/3) slid by 500,000.
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (1.2/3) pulled in 3.4 million for ABC.
- CW’s airing of Take the Lead (0.4/1) scored 1.3 million.

Watching people work ordinary jobs might not seem interesting, but it apparently is when celebrities do it. The April Fools’ Special, I Get That a Lot, surprised many last night by pulling in stronger than expected numbers. Unfortunately, a win over Lie to Me wasn’t quite enough for CBS. Idol still put FOX on top for the night.
8pm
- I Get That a Lot (3.4/10 in 18-49) had 10.3 million laughing.
- Lie to Me (9 million, 2.6/8) was down 10% from the last fresh episode.
- Law & Order: Criminal Intent* (5.1 million, 1.2/4) did twice as well as The Chopping Block.
- Scrubs (5 million, 1.9/6) slid by 300,000; Better Off Ted (4.7 million, 1.8/5) remained steady.
- America’s Next Top Model (3.9 million, 1.7/5) grew by 1.1 million.
