Carrie UnderwoodCarrie Underwood has been named the top-earning American Idol alumni.

The country music star and 2005 winner topped Forbes magazine's annual list thanks to her staggering $31 million income over the last year, with a sell-out tour, albums and beauty deals under her belt.

The third spot on the list is a surprise tie between season 8 winner Adam Lambert, who landed a guest role on Glee, and 2012 winner Phillip Phillips, with $5 million each. Kelly Clarkson: Carrie Underwood Would Be a Great Idol Judge

Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood

Kelly Clarkson thinks that Carrie Underwood would make a great judge on American Idol. The "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" hitmaker - who shot to fame after winning the inaugural season of the pop star search show in 2002 - believes the country singer would make a great addition to the panel following the departures of Jennifer Lopez and Stephen Tyler. Kelly thinks Carrie - who was the winner of the fourth series of American Idol in 2005 - would be a fantastic choice because of her educational background and poker face.

When asked if Carrie would make a good judge, Kelly said, "She would! Didn't she major in journalism or something? And she can have that face ... that bluff face! She can put that on! She would be good."

Kelly Clarkson: I Hated Life After ‘American Idol’

Kelly ClarksonKelly Clarkson says she hated life in the years following her American Idol win.

The original winner of the show in 2002 admitted that the show's makers were out for themselves as opposed to caring about her well-being: "I'm going to be completely honest - I had no one looking out for me. They were looking out for the show, and it was horrible. I was 19 years old. I was smart enough to know that it wasn't about me, but that didn't make it any easier. I'm all cried out about it, but my first four years, I hated my life; I almost quit a dozen times."

Now Kelly - who is dating her manager's son, Brandon Blackstock - says she is finally happy.

"Where's the kick in the ass? I told my assistant that today. I said, 'I'm just waiting for something to blow up.' She said, 'No, that's what happiness is.' I'm like, maybe I've never been happy! Because Brandon does - he makes me happy," she continued.

Kelly Clarkson to Judge New TV Talent Show

Kelly ClarksonKelly Clarkson has joined the judging panel of new TV talent show Duets.

The "Stronger" hitmaker - who found fame on the first series of American Idol - will join forces with music legend Lionel Richie, as well as Jennifer Nettles and Robin Thicke on the upcoming ABC series, which is set to debut this summer.

After scouring the US for undiscovered talent, Duets will see the celebrity mentors paired with aspiring vocalists for a live performance in front of a studio audience each week, with the eventual winner bagging a recording contract with Hollywood Records.

"The simple fact that I get to go out and find two people that I believe in, sing with them every week, and help them accomplish their dream is an amazing thing that I can't wait to be a part of," Kelly said in a statement.

The 29-year-old singer - who worked as a guest mentor on The Voice last year - has previously admitted she has been given a "hard time" because she found success on a TV talent show: "People have given me such a hard time. I came from a singing show, so I like singing shows, obviously. What was the big shocker there?"

Mover than 53 million votes were recorded after American Idol’s Tuesday performance round, but one of the Top 8 failed to score a big enough share to survive the night.

Before any results were revealed, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina again paired up to deliver a duet of “American Honey,” originally by Lady Antebellum. They sound wonderful together, and the number was perfect. They’ll be performing a lot of duets together over the summer, when they both go out on the Idol tour.

The week’s Ford music video followed, a rather fun combination of cars and zombies. Watch all this year’s music video at Albumista.

American Idol 8: Wild Card Round

The Wild Card round of opened with three stools and eight singers who all hoped to fill them. With eight singers, four judges and one host - not to mention a performance round and an elimination round in a single episode - Idol had to move things along pretty quickly. There was little time for recap or reintroduction. Each contestant had a sort of hurried interview that played for a few moments while they rushed to the stage. It was actually sort of poorly done, not to put too fine a point on it.

At any rate, Idol viewers were given a rare treat - instant gratification. Usually, results have to wait an entire day…but not on this Wild night.
