Carrie Underwood Named Top-Earning ‘American Idol’ Alumni

Carrie Underwood has been named the top-earning American Idol alumni.
The country music star and 2005 winner topped Forbes magazine's annual list thanks to her staggering $31 million income over the last year, with a sell-out tour, albums and beauty deals under her belt.
Kelly Clarkson, the first ever Idol winner, came in second place with $7 million with the earnings of two albums and concerts, each scoring her quarter of a million dollars. The third spot on the list is a surprise tie between season 8 winner Adam Lambert, who landed a guest role on Glee, and 2012 winner Phillip Phillips, with $5 million each. The lesser-known Phillips' winner's single "Home" fared better than any in the show's history, shifting over 4 million copies.
Chris Daughtry was third with $4 million thanks to performing over 80 shows with his eponymous rock band. Baby-faced country singer Scott McCreery ranked sixth with earnings of $3 million, while season 5 winner Taylor Hicks - who is the only Idol alumni with a Las Vegas-residency - came seventh. Broadway star Fantasia Barrino, Dancing with the Stars contestant Kellie Pickler, Smash singer-and-actress Katharine McPhee and Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson rounded out the top 10.

American Idol 8: Top 8 Results
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,
The intro for the Top 8 results show of American Idol 8 was highly dramatic, replete with clips of judges’ comments and images of the contestants. Paula Abdul wore opera length gloves for the evening; Randy wore his usual cardigan and Simon Cowell was, as always, in a black v-neck.
To re-visit the theme of the evening, a song from the year American Idol was born (1959) played out on the Idol big screen. The song was from Frankie Avalon, who then appeared on the big stage singing the same joint. The crowd - and Paula - seemed genuinely surprised and delighted.
I wasn’t. I spend every results show thinking “just get to it, already” - to no avail of course.

Endearingly dizty country gal Kellie Pickler cleaned up at the CMT Music Awards last night, success the blonde attributed directly to her American Idol experiences.

Kellie Pickler’s Enhanced Idol Appearance
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Music, Prime Time, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Rumors,
If you caught Kellie Pickler on Thursday night’s American Idol results show, you may have noticed that she looked a little more va-va-va-voom in the breast department. Me, I just thought she was wearing a really tight dress that showed off her ... ahem… assets. After her appearance, the web was swirling with rumors that the singer had gotten breast implants. Quick, someone call Tyra Banks. Season 5 Idol contestant Katharine McPhee just went on Banks’ show to declare that she’s all-natural. Pickler is remaining mum for now.
Many thought that Ryan Seacrest’s question to Pickler that night was a nudge-nudge moment: “Have you spent your money on anything since you left us?” he asked. You could hear the comment flying over her head as she giddily commented on her shoes. Access Hollywood wasn’t quite as subtle when they ran a segment called “Pickler’s New Pair?” Ugh. Anyhoo, Pickler is giving the “no comment” comment when it comes to matters of her enhanced cleavage.

American Idol Announces Big Name Guests
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Music, Prime Time, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Ratings,
As if American Idol needs any more fuel for the already astronomical ratings, the producers have announced some very special guest stars. If you tuned in last night for the first eliminations, you saw former American Idol Fantasia Barrino perform. But wait—there’s more! Ryan Seacrest also announced last night that there would be many big name stars showing up as special guests this season. Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Jon Bon Jovi, Martina McBride, Diana Ross, Barry Gibb and Lulu and Peter Noone. It’s unclear what the theme will be for each show these performers contribute to, but the star wattage is impressive. Other fun tidbits from Thursday’s program include the announcement that Fantasia will star in The Color Purple on Broadway (with a quick glimpse of producer Quincy Jones), as well as the use of Chris Daughtry’s (another former Idol) song “Home” for the send-off of the eliminated contestants. Another former finalist will show up next Thursday—Kellie Pickler will be on hand to perform her single “I Wonder.”

Kellie Pickler’s Dad Arrested
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Rumors,
Remember cutie American Idol finalist Kellie Pickler? Seems her dad is the one making headlines now, given his latest arrest. Clyde Raymond Pickler Jr. was arrested on February 7 for assault. The arrest occurred in Albemarle, North Carolina, and he allegedly assaulted someone with a steak knife. He had several misdemeanor charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a female, and communicating threats. During her time on Idol, Kellie recounted how her dad had done jail time, including a stint for stabbing his neighbor in 2003. Seems his days of crime are not behind him. Kellie is doing well, despite the family trouble. Her debut album, Small Town Girl, sold 500,000 copies. She is also scheduled to appear in a sitcom pilot in the fall.

Kellie Pickler Given Sitcom
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, American Idol,
Say it ain’t so… but it is! Fox has announced that they are developing a sitcom for American Idol finalist Kellie Pickler. You may recall that the singer got plenty of screen time on Idol, putting her southern personality on display. I guess it was only a matter of time before a TV show came a-knockin’. The half-hour comedy won’t prove to be too much of a stretch, with Pickler playing a small-town Southern girl. The character will find out that her real father is the state’s governor, putting his plans for a presidential run in danger. Strangely enough—here’s where the comedy comes in—his new found daughter will help him in the polls. Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore (That ‘70s Show) are on board to write the new series.
