JewelNancy O'Dell

Well, at least they got some nice photos of it…

One day after rumors of a Holly Madison appearance surfaced, two Dancing with the Stars casting decisions were made official: Jewel and Nancy O’Dell are now permanently on the disabled list. Both celebrities suffered injuries to their knees during the rehearsal phase.

“It’s rather unfortunate that people the most committed to the show were doing harm to their bodies. I believe both injuries came from overtraining, particularly in the early stages,” executive producer Conrad Green stated.

Holly Madison: Let me guess. You’re probably asking yourself right now, “What does Hugh Hefner’s ex have anything to do with DWTS?” Well, according to Us Weekly, there may be more to this Girl Next Door.

An inside source tells the magazine that Madison will be part of next Monday’s premiere. Unless something changes within the next few days, it’s believed the Playboy Playmate will be there to replace an injured Jewel. (The singer is suffering from tendonitis in her knees.)

Cheryl Burke and Gilles MariniJulianne Hough and Chuck Wicks

Since we’re now just over a week away from the start of , here’s a little backstage scoop to get you warmed up:

Julianne Hough: Three months ago the two-time champion announced she would be taking a hiatus to pursue her music career. So what made her change her mind? A boy.

Hough said ABC used her real-life boyfriend (singer Chuck Wicks) to rope her back in. “It was a last minute deal,” she wrote in her blog. “I was set on taking this season off and then last minute the show asked me to do it because they had asked Chuck to do it and they thought it would be cool if we danced together.”

“At first I still said no because I wanted to focus on my music,” Julianne explained, “BUT then I thought about it for a day and figured this out. I can still write, go on tour and work on Julianne Hough the country singer because Chuck will be my partner and that will be a huge luxury.”

The Official Dancing with the Stars 8 Cast

Dancing with the Stars

The official lineup for was announced tonight during ABC’s Sunday lineup.

And while tabloids have leaked erroneous names over the past few years, it appears they’ve rounded up better sources this time around. It also turns out that Donny Osmond wasn’t lying when he said he was lying about competing. (Get that?)

For the show’s eighth installment, we’ll once again start off with an uneven 13 contestants. (This meant a Week 1 double-elimination last fall.) We’ll also see the series’ youngest performer to date. (Even younger than Season 7’s Cody Linley.) You can check out the full list of names after the jump.

The Latest Dancing with the Stars 8 Casting Rumors

Steve-O

Later this weekend, viewers of ABC’s Sunday night programming will be the first to learn the network’s biggest casting secret. That’s when the lineup for Dancing with the Stars 8 will finally be announced.

Despite some erroneous (and a few accurate) rumors over the past few years, the tabloids haven’t stopped speculating over the highly-anticipated lineups. Although Kim Kardashian, Lance Bass and Toni Braxton were correctly guessed last season, Paula Abdul Ty Murray were not.

So far, we’ve already heard Donny Osmond announce, then deny, that he would be competing this March. We’ve also learned that Cindy McCain was interested but that Kevin Federline wasn’t. Who else is reportedly in the wings?

The Latest Dancing with the Stars Rumors

Denise RichardsTy Murray and Jewel

Since our last report two weeks ago, the latest Dancing with the Stars rumors have been dished out a rapid pace. And we still have another two weeks to go until the final cast is announced!

According to TMZ, Toni Braxton will be one of the competitors hitting the floor this fall. If the buzz is true, this decision would be very interesting considering the singer’s recent issues. Braxton was forced to cancel her Las Vegas show back in May citing health reasons. (While the specific problem was not revealed, Toni has been treated for hypertension and pericarditis in the past.)

Nashville Star

(You can view TV Envy’s Summer Television Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY (6/9)
  • The Bachelorette (ABC, 8pm):  “DeAnna accuses the 9 remaining bachelors of refusing to take the competition seriously, but first she invites them to compete in a singing contest.” I don’t understand why those guys don’t see the importance of a proper serenade.
  • Quads with 2 Moms (Discovery Health, 8pm):  “A same-sex couple who want to become parents undergo fertility treatments and both become pregnant with twins.” I just can’t believe Oprah didn’t get a hold of this story first!
  • Greek (ABC Family, 8pm):  Season finale. “The Cyprus-Rhodes students head to the beach for Spring Break where Casey finally decides to leave the past behind and cut loose.” And by “decides”, we mean she finally “downs” a couple of shots and forgets the past.
  • Nashville Star (NBC, 9pm):  Season/network premiere. “Billy Ray Cyrus takes over the hosting from Jewel, who moves to the judges’ table alongside country stars John Rich and Jeffrey Steele.” I never thought the day would come when I would compare Jewel to .

Singer Jewel to Co-Host Nashville Star

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Music, Reality, Cable, Cable/Satellite,

JewelThe fifth season of USA’s Nashville Star will begin on January 11th, with Jewel taking on co-hosting duties. Nashville Star is the country-fied version of American Idol, searching for the next best country singer. Cowboy Troy returns as co-host, and I have to honestly say that I have no idea who that even is. At least they have a big name like Jewel to bring in more viewers. Jewel is rising to the co-hosting challenge, saying “I grew up on a ranch in Alaska, and my favorite memories are of sitting around a campfire with my father and listening to the songs he wrote and sang. It was pure country music, and it has made me a sincere fan of country music ever since.” At least she’s reminiscing about growing up in Alaska, and not about living in a van (as the tale goes, that’s how she spent the early days of her career). Her latest album, “Goodbye Alice in Wonderland” came out in May. The winner of Nashville Star will get a recording contract.
