David Beckham to Host Sports Talk Show

David BeckhamDavid Beckham is being inundated with offers to host his own talk show.

The 37-year-old footballer - whose rolling one year contract with Los Angeles Galaxy is up for renewal in December - has reportedly been offered the chance to front his own sports show by Time Warner Cable. A source told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper, "We want David on board whether or not he continues to play for the Galaxy. We are on our way to becoming the world's biggest sportscaster and he is a key part of our future."

The insider said that the US-based company has offered the midfielder a "multi-million" contract and is "desperate" to secure the father-of-four to host a twice-weekly show on its new sports network. The proposed format would see David interview his fellow athletes, discuss tactics and give him "free reign" to cover any sports of his choice.

But rivals FOX are said to be hashing out a massive counter offer in a desperate bid to lure the successful British star to its network and he is considering his options after being advised to cash-in on his celebrity status.

David Beckham Snubbed by The Simpsons

David Beckham

Although many would find him hard to resist, David Beckham was once refused a role on because he wasn’t considered famous enough.

The soccer star - who lives in Los Angeles with wife Victoria Beckham and their three sons - approached the creators of the animated comedy to make a cameo appearance but was turned down as show chiefs didn’t feel Americans knew enough about him.

“We get a lot of requests from celebrities, and it’s always a shame when we have to turn people down,” Al Jean, the show’s principal writer and executive producer, said. “We had a request from and I had to phone him up and tell him sorry but I didn’t want him on the show right now. I didn’t think he was a big enough star for an American audience.”

David Beckham:  The Voice Behind the Man

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Specials, NBC,

BeckhamI’m not sure why I’ve never considered him before, but after having watched NBC’s Victoria Beckham: Coming to America special and drooling over the latest issue of W—I have finally moved David Beckham into my ever-changing Top 5.  Which Top 5 would that be?  The list of freebies (ala Friends) my husband can never be upset about.

But despite Beck’s wealth, athleticism, appearance in a suit and ability to sport any hairstyle and still look good—his placement on my list does come with one caveat:  He..must..never..ever..speak.

Why?  Because the minute one word is uttered from his mouth…his hot-ability quotient immediately plummets.  Men everywhere should be happy to know that God helped level the playing field by giving him the whiniest voice to ever grace an incredibly gorgeous man.

For those of you familiar with his not-so-dulcet-tones, here’s my question to you:  Who or what does he sound like??  While he fortunately hasn’t given many soundbites here in America, I haven’t been able to pinpoint during those quick snippets who he sounds like.  My friend likens his voice to a leprechaun, but my money’s with the Geico Gecko.  Votes?  Thoughts?

Posh Gets Poor Reality Results

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, NBC, Gossip, Ratings,

Victoria BeckhamBad reviews and minimal viewers after Monday night’s reality extravaganza of Victoria Beckham (former Spice Girl and wife of soccer star David Beckham) could signal the beginning of the end for Posh’s reality dreams. The New York Post called Beckham herself “vapid and condescending” and the show “an orgy of self-indulgence.” There aren’t a whole lot of places to go with any show, after that. Victoria Beckham: Coming to America is yet another attempt from NBC to bring in more viewers, and though almost five million tuned in to see Posh Spice house-hunt, drive an American vehicle, and learn about earthquake safety, more people watched re-runs on both ABC and CBS.

Victoria Beckham Stalls Reality Program

Victoria Beckham For those of you chomping at the bit to see Victoria Beckham’s (aka Posh Spice) reality show that documents her and hubby David Beckham’s move to the U.S., sorry folks. You’re going to have to wait. How long? Well, Victoria has put things on hold while David finishes up his duties with the English national soccer team. Apparently, family comes before reality television, as the Posh one is putting the six-ep series on hold. It was originally reported that the entire show would be canceled, with a “source” telling People magazine that “It might end up being a one-hour special instead of a series.” In fact, the change of plan to complete the series is because she has “decided to put David and her children first.” Will she finish out her commitment and wrap up the series? Logic would tell us that yes, when there’s a multimillion-dollar deal at stake, she will most definitely complete the series. Of course, David’s deal with the Los Angeles Galaxy will bring the family bank account up another $250 million, so perhaps she’s not hurting for the extra reality show income. The family will get settled into their Beverly Hills home in mid-July. NBC execs will make the ultimate decision about the fate of the series.

Posh Spice Brings Her Reality to TV

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Reality, NBC, Gossip, Rumors,

Victoria BeckhamI love how celebrities think their lives are so interesting that the masses will watch every detail played out on television. Well, in some cases, I suppose it’s interesting. In this case, I’m not so sure. Victoria Beckham, a.k.a. Posh Spice, is negotiating her own reality series. An unnamed source says that the decision will be “coming very soon.” Reportedly, the show will be on NBC and details have not yet been ironed out. The rumors do speculate that the show will not focus as much on husband, David Beckham, or their three children. Instead, the series would take an inside look at her fashion business and her move to America in mid-July. Since David Beckham will be playing for the L.A. Galaxy team in a super lucrative deal, why not let the misses putter around with her little reality show?
