Monday Ratings: Castle Has Strong Second Outing

While it’s doubtful Castle would be able to do this well without DWTS’ support, the series did show promise in its second week. The Nathan Fillion vehicle joined forces with the ballroom hit to give ABC another double win last night.

DWTS’ Latest Injured Stars: Steve Wozniak and Steve-O

Steve-OSteve Wozniak

The Dancing with the Stars benchwarmers might want to start warming up.

Less than a week after replacing two of the program’s female celebrities, the producers are now facing several injuries on the male side.

Although he surprised audiences with a Jackass-less waltz last Monday, Steve-O is struggling to make it to Week 2. “A physical therapist has told me that nerves are being pinched in my back, and it is in spasms because of inflammation related to torn muscles. I’m doing everything I can to let it heal—icing it, taking Advil, drinking water, visiting a chiropractor and continuing to be worked on by the physical therapist. I’m still rehearsing every day, but walking through my salsa routine rather than practicing the physical stunts and tricks that are incorporated into it. It is going to be a risky routine that I hope to pull off,” the 34-year-old said in a statement.

Monday Ratings: DWTS Has Best Premiere Yet

Jewel and Nancy O’Dell’s loss was Dancing with the Stars’ gain. Despite being in its 8th season, the program saw its largest premiere audience to date. (I think we can safely attribute that to the Melissa Rycroft factor.) The reality show’s return easily gave ABC wins in both the viewers and the demos last night.

Bachelor’s Melissa Now Dancing with the Stars Competitor

Melissa RycroftWho needs Nancy O’Dell? ABC has just scored someone even better.

Despite being faced with two holes in their casting lineup, the producers of Dancing with the Stars have rebounded quickly. (Practice apparently makes perfect.) According to insiders, the injured host of Access Hollywood has already been replaced with one of the most talked about women around: .

Just days after being publicly humiliated on TV, The Bachelor‘s Rycroft will reportedly be facing the national spotlight once again. According to People, the jilted fiancee will be stepping out on the ballroom floor tomorrow as Nancy O’Dell’s substitute. Although Rycroft will have had little rehearsal time, the 25-year-old already has other dance (and reality) experience under her belt. Melissa was also featured on Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.

Earlier this week, it was revealed by several sources that Holly Madison (The Girls Next Door) would be filling in for singer Jewel.

Jewel and Nancy O’Dell Officially Leave Dancing with the Stars

JewelNancy O'Dell

Well, at least they got some nice photos of it…

One day after rumors of a Holly Madison appearance surfaced, two Dancing with the Stars casting decisions were made official: Jewel and Nancy O’Dell are now permanently on the disabled list. Both celebrities suffered injuries to their knees during the rehearsal phase.

“It’s rather unfortunate that people the most committed to the show were doing harm to their bodies. I believe both injuries came from overtraining, particularly in the early stages,” executive producer Conrad Green stated.

DWTS News: Julianne Hough, Gilles Marini and Jewel

Cheryl Burke and Gilles MariniJulianne Hough and Chuck Wicks

Since we’re now just over a week away from the start of , here’s a little backstage scoop to get you warmed up:

Julianne Hough: Three months ago the two-time champion announced she would be taking a hiatus to pursue her music career. So what made her change her mind? A boy.

Hough said ABC used her real-life boyfriend (singer Chuck Wicks) to rope her back in. “It was a last minute deal,” she wrote in her blog. “I was set on taking this season off and then last minute the show asked me to do it because they had asked Chuck to do it and they thought it would be cool if we danced together.”

“At first I still said no because I wanted to focus on my music,” Julianne explained, “BUT then I thought about it for a day and figured this out. I can still write, go on tour and work on Julianne Hough the country singer because Chuck will be my partner and that will be a huge luxury.”

Dancing with the Stars

The official lineup for was announced tonight during ABC’s Sunday lineup.
