Tuesday Ratings: Idol Hits a New Low

Is American Idol starting to show its age? Or were viewers simply disinterested in the Kris/Adam battle? Whatever the reason, yesterday’s episode scored the lowest demos ever for a finale performance show.

Monday Ratings: ABC is a Thorn in CBS’ Side

A mere 20,000 viewers. That was the only thing keeping CBS from winning both the viewers and the demos last night. ABC’s reality block - with its 12.18 million average - barely managed to squeak past the Eye and its 12.16 million followers.

Tuesday Ratings: Sizable Numbers for Biggest Loser

Despite its position on a fourth place network, The Biggest Loser somehow manages to buck NBC’s ratings trend. Last night’s finale saw the program’s biggest audience since 2005. The reality show also had its best demos in 2 1/2 years.

Tuesday Ratings: Season Low for 90210

Has the update novelty already worn off? Although 90210 helped spawn a reboot of Melrose Place, the teen drama - already renewed for another season - is starting to show signs of weakness. Yesterday’s episode drew in its smallest audience to date.

DWTS’ Melissa Rycroft Gets Another Chance

Dancing with the Stars' Melissa Rycroft and Tony DovolaniOnce again, fans proved they love to see a comeback story. But will their votes have been in vain?

Even though a rib injury kept her from performing on Monday, Melissa Rycroft’s supporters rallied to keep her around for another week. This despite no guarantees that she will even be able to dance again.

During last night’s results show, Melissa updated the audience on the status of her hairline fracture. “We’ve started new treatment and we’re kind of optimistic that it will be effective,” she explained.

Since the former Bachelor star was spared elimination, the ax had to come down on another couple. Although they went into the evening with 5 more points than Rycroft and Tony Dovolani, and Julianne Hough were the ones sent home. But is there a possibility that they could return?

Should Melissa discover that she can’t continue as previously hoped, would the producers bring back the last pairing? Or would that all depend on the timing of her decision? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Monday Ratings: Lackluster Finales for Heroes, Chuck

If there ever was a time for fans to come out and support Chuck, it would have been last night. Unfortunately, the numbers for both NBC finales were basically flat from last week. (At least the network has already declared that Heroes will get a return.) Meanwhile, FOX beat out CBS in a tight race for the demos while ABC was in first with the viewers.

Injured Melissa Rycroft Sidelined on Dancing with the Stars

Dancing with the Stars' Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani

Could there be another bad ending in Melissa Rycroft’s reality show run?

Although it seemed like we had finally gotten past the curse, Jason Mesnick’s ex was absent from tonight’s taping. It was revealed that a rib injury suffered last week was actually a hairline fracture.

Despite Melissa’s efforts to perform this week, it became painfully clear after rehearsals that she couldn’t go on. Assuming she’s able to return to the competition (it’s currently believed she will), the judges went ahead and scored her pre-taped jive. (That was what they also did in the Steve-O back injury situation.) Unfortunately, the dry run with Tony Dovolani offered little substance and only earned a 21.

We should expect an update on Rycroft’s status on tomorrow’s results show.

Tuesday Ratings: DWTS Can’t Help The Unusuals

ABC, apparently not feeling the love from Cupid, decided to try out another struggling series last night. Unfortunately, The Unusuals failed to deliver as well. Although the the program did just as well as it did last Wednesday, it didn’t improve despite a better lead-in.

Monday Ratings: Bones is No House

Attempts to give Bones more attention didn’t do much for either the show or the network. Despite decreased competition from CBS, the program pulled in smaller numbers than the normal slot holder. The series also declined from its last Thursday outing.
