This Week on TV (3/17-3/23)

How I Met Your Mother

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (3/17)
  • Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 8pm):  Tonight’s Season 6 premiere focuses only on the men.  I think it’s safe to say Julianne Hough won’t be making it a three-peat with .
  • The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 8pm):  New episode.  “Sheldon and Leonard are asked to a physics conference to present their work together.”  I’ve always wondered - if this show were to air on any other day, would it be half as successful?
  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30):  New episode.  “Ted decides to live life like Barney on St. Patrick’s Day.”  You don’t want to know what they use as their lucky charms.
  • Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9pm):  New episode.  “Charlie teaches Alan how to break up with a woman.”  I hear hiring prostitutes can make a woman leave you.
  • The Bachelor (ABC, 9:30):  Season 12 premiere.  “Bachelor Matt Grant, a 27-year-old British financier, meets his 25 would-be soul mates.”  Apparently in America, you can finally afford to woo twice as many women as you can in the UK.

This Week on TV (2/25-3/2)

Men in Trees

(You can find our Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (2/25)
  • A Raisin in the Sun (ABC, 8pm):  and the rest of his Broadway cast bring the play to the small screen.  I’m sorry - I believe his theater name is Sean Combs.
  • The Moment of Truth (FOX, 8pm):  Special night.  Apparently this episode is so controversial, the producers debated airing it.  Then they realized what network they were on and just went with it.
  • Welcome to the Captain (CBS, 8:30):  “Hope makes some new friends so she won’t be alone on Friday nights.” Their names?  Jack and Daniels.
  • Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (CW, 9pm):  “The women receive a surprise visit from JC Chasez.”  They, too, are wondering why he doesn’t have anything better to do.

Renewals Aplenty at FX

Eddie IzzardAt least there’s one network that’s not so quick to cancel every new series. FX has announced that freshman series Dirt and The Riches will both be back for a second run. While I couldn’t get into Dirt, it seems to get solid ratings (and that kiss between Courteney Cox-Arquette and Jennifer Aniston probably didn’t hurt either). I couldn’t wait to see The Riches because I’m a huge fan of Eddie Izzard, however, I haven’t had the time to keep up. Thank goodness for DVR! After watching the first two episodes, I’ve been recording the others and will have a bunch of episodes to catch up on once all of the other season finales are over with. FX president John Landgraf commented, “FX now has six original dramas, more than any network in the history of cable television, cementing the network’s status as a leader in quality original series.” Dirt pulled in about 5.2 million vieweres per week, while The Riches drew 5.9 million. Rescue Me returns on June 13th, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia comes back for season three in September, and new seasons of Nip/Tuck and 30 Days will come later in the year.

Former ‘Friends’ Stars to Kiss on ‘Dirt’

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Drama, Cable, Cable/Satellite, Gossip,

Jennifer Aniston We brought you the news that Jennifer Aniston may be appearing on Courteney Cox Arquette’s FX series, Dirt. Then we confirmed Aniston’s appearance on the finale. And now… well, for anyone that ever hoped to catch any of the women from Friends in a liplock, this news is for you. Not only will Aniston appear on the season finale of Dirt, but she will also be seen kissing star Courteney Cox Arquette. So, if you thought viewership for this freshman series was going to see an uptick from Aniston’s turn as a rival magazine editor, the upcoming kiss will have viewer numbers off of the chart. The episode, which airs on March 27th, will have Aniston’s character giving what a source calls a “goodbye peck.” Okay, so it’s not a heavy kissing scene, but the source tells People magazine, “But, yes, it’s on the lips.” Further, it has been confirmed that Aniston will be playing a lesbian, according to a USA Today article.

Jennifer Aniston May Appear on Cox Arquette’s ‘Dirt’

Jennifer Aniston While Courteney Cox Arquette and Jennifer Aniston have ruled out a Friends reunion, there is a chance that Aniston may appear on Cox Arquette’s new FX series, Dirt. The former Friends co-stars spoke out at the Television Critics Association Conference, saying of a Friends reunion, “It’s too hard to get everyone together. The writers are doing their thing, and I just can’t see it happening – not that I wouldn’t do it, because it would be fun.” On Dirt, Cox Arquette works as editor-in-chief at a tabloid magazine. While no firm plans have been made about Aniston’s appearance, the two have been in discussions about the type of character that Aniston would play on the series.
