TV Talk: Better Off Ted’s Final Shows, Conan O’Brien’s New Name

Better Off Ted-Would you be better off with some Better Off Ted? The last two unaired episodes are now available for viewing on iTunes or Amazon’s On Demand service. They can also be streamed via Netflix.

-Domestic maven Martha Stewart has a new project in mind. “Who’s going to take (Larry King and Barbara Walters’] place as the serious, great interviewer? I’m throwing my name in there, because I love to talk to people.” She’s starting with a Sept. 19 Hallmark special.

-Bethenny Frankel might not be the only person MIA from The Real Housewives of New York City. The remaining ladies - who earn approx. $4000 per episode - reportedly want Snooki-sized paychecks. (The Jersey Shore star earns $30,000/episode.)

-Conan O’Brien finally has a name for his TBS show: Conan. “I’m just using ‘Conan’ and dropping the ‘O’Brien’ because I want to get away from the whole Irish thing,” the late night host explained.

Conan O’Brien Congratulated by NBC for Emmy Nods

Conan O’Brien’s surprise Emmy nominations this morning for his work on The Tonight Show prompted NBC to issue a

forced classy half-ass

unexpected statement about their former employee.

The network, which did not see a Jay Leno mention, wrote: “We congratulate Conan and all our nominees on their creative accomplishments and their deserved nominations.”

Conan - who saw his old program receive four noms including one for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series - also delivered his own comment via Twitter. “Congrats to my staff on 4 Emmy nominations. This bodes well for the future of The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien,” he wrote.

2010 Primetime Emmy Nominations



The road to the officially kicked off early this morning. Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara (who received a nod) and Community‘s Joel McHale (who didn’t) were the ones who had the honor of reading this year’s list of nominees.

Although - with 17 nominations - once again topped off all dramas, 30 Rock did

not

lead the comedies. did. The freshman FOX series raked in a total of 19 noms, only a handful short of the overall leader. (HBO’s miniseries, The Pacific, received 24 mentions.) 30 Rock did receive 15 nominations, though, while Modern Family followed closely behind with 14.

The August 29 ceremony - which NBC will air live on both the East and West coasts - will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon. You can see a partial list of nominees after the jump.

Pay careful attention to the last ten seconds of this video. If you look at the dimmed, lower portion of the image, you’ll notice a small, silent joke bomb placed by Team to insult Conan O’Brien. The subject matter? Terrorism. The vehicle? Facebook. The result? That remains to be seen.

While doing a bit about would-be Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad, the Tonight Show host presented a Facebook page purportedly owned by Shahzad. On it, you can see that Faisal belongs to a few groups: Al Qaeda, the Pakistan Frequent Flyers Club and Team Coco, the moniker used by supporters.

Conan O’Brien Speaks Out Against Jay Leno, NBC

May 1st, for late night fans, meant only one thing: Conan O’Brien’s vow of silence with NBC had expired. This weekend, he celebrated that holiday the way any star with something to say might: by giving a hard-hitting interview on national TV.

O’Brien has remained very tactful throughout the entire NBC late night debacle. He didn’t exactly take the gloves off during his time with , but he did make one thing pretty clear: he’s not happy with Jay Leno. “I do not think I will be hearing from him,” Conan said of his fellow late night host, who has now resumed his duties at The Tonight Show. “Who can say who won and who lost?” Conan asked. “I’m laughing ‘cause crying would be sad.”

Fans of Conan O’Brien probably aren’t used to seeing him on air at 7:00 in the evening. They also are probably not used to seeing him speak without a smile on his face.
