Chevy Chase Parts Ways with ‘Community’

So long, Pierce Hawthorne.
Community's resident bigoted millionaire will be dropping out of Greendale Community College, as it was announced that Chevy Chase will be leaving the NBC comedy. Although it was reported the decision is mutual, there have been claims previously about Chase's frustration with his character and clash with former showrunner Dan Harmon.
Most of the show's upcoming fifth season has been filmed, although it has not been confirmed whether or not his exit will be written into the show.
None of the other actors will be leaving the show, and Chase's departure is not expected to impact production.
Community will begin airing its final season on February 7 at 8pm on NBC.

MONDAY 4/6)
- Little People, Big World (TLC, 8pm): “Molly gets her learner’s permit, but her driving lessons get off to a shaky start.” Hours of Mario Kart Wii clearly hasn’t helped.
- Chuck (NBC, 8pm): “Chuck’s lfe takes fortunate turns: Not only does his long-estranged father return, but Chuck scores a coveted job with Ted Roark (Chevy Chase), a heroic figure in his life.” The guy who got Christie Brinkley to jump naked into a pool is a hero to many.
- Surviving Suburbia (ABC, 9:30pm): “Cynical dad (Bob Saget) accidentally starts a fire in his neighbor’s home after he reluctantly agrees to house-sit.” That’s one way to make sure he won’t be asked again.

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
Samantha Who?: When Samantha finally makes its return on March 26, the series will be adding a little bit of crazy. Angie Harmon (Women’s Murder Club) will play Gigi, Winston Funk’s insane ex-wife. As we previously announced, Billy Zane will replace Timothy Olyphant as Christina Applegate’s former beau.

SNL Alum Not Amused By Sarah Palin
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Gossip, Video,
After tons of hype and media attention, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin finally made an appearance (for real) on SNL. I would have rather just watched Tina Fey (who at least makes the wanna-be veep seem charming)…and apparently I’m not alone in that sentiment.
“Quite frankly, it’s a big mistake to let her go on,” said former Saturday Night Live regular and Weekend Update anchor Chevy Chase. “Apparently, she [Sarah Palin] cannot improvise herself out of a paper bag!” Or drooping polls.

It’s not enough for Tom Brady to dominate the gridiron, he has to take the television spotlight too. Last night’s Patriots/Eagles game was a ratings victory for NBC.
8pm
- The Sunday Night Football game, which ran from 8:30-11:30 EST, was estimated to have 22.5 million viewers overall.
- Thanks to a lengthy football game, 60 Minutes (3.9/9) drew in 15.5 million at 8pm EST.
- Approximately 14.9 million watched the 100th episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (5.0/11).
- The Simpsons (9.03 million, 4.1/10) was down over 1 million from last week; King of the Hill lost about 700,000 thousand.
9pm
- Desperate Housewives (6.9/15 in 18-49 demo) brought in a healthy 18.5 million.
- The Amazing Race (12.2 million, 3.5/8) was about even with last Sunday.
- Family Guy (9.6 million, 4.7/10) lost about 900,000 while American Dad (8.42 million, 4.0/9) saw a slight increase.
10pm
- About 12.5 million saw Chevy Chase guest star on Brothers & Sisters (4.8/11 in 18-49 demo).
- Cold Case (12.3 million, 3.1/7) was down about 1.5 million from its previous performance.

Chevy Chase Guests on Brothers & Sisters
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Drama, Late Night, Prime Time, ABC, NBC, Saturday Night Live,
It’s the age old question: when did Chevy Chase become un-funny? I mean, SNL, Caddyshack, Vacation, and Fletch—Chevy ruled the comedy scene. Then it was as if his tank approached empty and he sputtered with every Caddyshack/Vacation/Fletch sequel. Not to worry, however. He has managed to show up in some recent films and even appeared on an episode of Law and Order last year (not to mention dropping in on SNL last weekend). So, his comedy chops may have fizzled, but he’s still around. Next up? A guest appearance on Brothers & Sisters, playing an ex-boyfriend of Nora’s (Sally Field). We’ll be seeing him on the series sometime in 2008 and he’ll stick around for a few episodes. I’m just hoping Chevy’s storyline is a little more interesting than last season’s guest, Peter Coyote, who played Nora’s potential love interest. And, since it’s a drama, he doesn’t even need to try and engage that dormant funny bone of his. Aww, I kid Chevy. I love Brothers & Sisters and I’m looking forward to seeing what role he’ll play.

Chevy Chase to Guest on Law and Order
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Drama, Prime Time, NBC,
Chevy Chase—where have you been? He’s back, and this time giving the drama Law & Order a spin as a guest star. He stars as a hollywood actor who is arrested for DUI. The episode has a decidedly familiar ring on the recent incident with Mel Gibson, as the character’s “religious prejudice comes out after his arrest.” The spin, however, is that this character will be “wearing blood-soaked clothes.”
Gibson’s incident took place in July and he pleaded no contest in August, receiving a sentence of three years’ probation, payment of a fine and required attendance at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
Chase, of course, is well known for being a cast member of Saturday Night Live, as well as his appearances in the Vacation, Caddyshack and Fletch films. Apparently, Chase hasn’t been too far from the spotlight recently, including the film Zoom this summer, and the indie films Ellie Parker and Funny Money.
