ER’s Anthony Edwards Returns from the Dead

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, NBC, ER, News,

Anthony EdwardsAlthough it doesn’t look Doug Ross (George Clooney) and Nurse Hathaway will be leaving Seattle anytime soon, long-time watchers of will still get a nice surprise this year.

Anthony Edwards, who played Dr. Mark Greene for eight seasons, will be returning to the halls of County General for a brief visit this fall. This cameo will, of course, be a special one considering Greene died of a brain tumor in 2002. It will also be meaningful given the upcoming finale of the entire show.

Edwards’ appearance in a series of flashbacks will help provide “insight into Dr. Banfield’s past.” Dr. Cate Banfield is the new character being played by Oscar-nominee Angela Bassett. The Nov. 13 episode, titled “Heal Thyself.” will also feature other actors from the series’ past.

ER kicks off Thursday, September 25th.

Michelle Rodriguez Returns to Lost

Michelle Rodriguez on LostAccording to Entertainment Weekly, the woman controversially knocked off by Michael will be making a quick return to next year. The one-episode cameo (rumored to be in Episode #2) will mark Ana Lucia’s first appearance since May 2006.

While this casting news is interesting, ‘s stint really shouldn’t come as a surprise. Last season, her co-Tailie, Libby (), paid a special visit to the man who also shot her. Since Michael is now presumably dead, it’s unclear who Ana Lucia may be coming back to haunt.

So I guess the question now is, “When will Mr. Eko return?”

Season 5 of Lost premieres in 2009.

Neil Patrick Harris Against Second Britney Appearance

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, CBS, Gossip,

Neil Patrick HarrisWhile I’m sure he’s appreciative of the attention she helped bring to the show, How I Met Your Mother‘s would rather a certain pop star stayed at home.

Britney Spears’ cameo last month helped the CBS comedy earn its best performance in the demos ever.  So why wouldn’t he want her to come back?  Harris would (smartly) prefer to see Mother succeed on its own merits.  In an interview with the AP, the actor admitted that his opinions are not shared by everyone in his crew. “I’m in the minority that our show does not need stunt casting in order to succeed.”

The singer’s highly-publicized appearance was not the first time the series had had a celebrity visit.  Other guests have included , Enrique Iglesias, Vanessa Minnillo and Mandy Moore.  If the stunt casting continues at this pace, the comedy could end up looking like a former NBC hit.
