2008 Summer Television Programming Schedule

The Bachelorette, DeAnna Pappas

A new season calls for a new schedule.

If you’re without anything to do this summer, this updated programming schedule may help keep you occupied.  Over the next few months, networks will be introducing a crop of reality shows (Celebrity Circus, Greatest American Dog), some experimental dramas (Swingtown, Fear Itself) and the usual horde of repeats.

This list is a

compilation of the calendars

for the five major networks.

Monday Ratings: Weak Premiere for American Gladiators

Why NBC chose to bring back American Gladiators at this time is beyond me.  Had the show debuted after the latest round of finales, it might have fared better than fourth place.  Meanwhile, ABC was another winner with the viewers while FOX was tops in the demos.

American Gladiators, Rocket and Jet

MONDAY (5/12)

Tonight’s finales: The Hills, Medium, Samantha Who?, The Bachelor

  • American Gladiators (NBC, 8pm):  Season Two premiere includes new gladiators (‘Rocket’ and ‘Jet’).  Seriously, how intimidating could a smiling Gladiator be?
  • Bones (FOX, 8pm):  “When the body of an aspiring singer (Ace Young of ) is discovered, Booth and Brennan probe a club’s open-mike night.”  Uhh—which one was Ace again?
  • Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm):  “An embarrassed Serena resurrects some troubling old habits as she continues to hide the truth from Dan.”  If he only knew she’d been sharing her jeans with three other girls.
  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30pm):  “Britney Spears returns as Abby, who is now dating Barney.”  First Robin Sparkles, now Britney.  I’m not sure if that’s a step up or down for Barney.

Monday Ratings: ABC, CBS and FOX Divide the Night

Thanks a dip in House‘s numbers, CBS was able to match FOX in the demos.  Meanwhile, ABC was again the most-viewed network on Monday night.

Monday Ratings: ABC and FOX Split Busy Night

The return of House made a dent in CBS’ numbers.  While ABC was busy retaining its lead with the viewers, FOX was able to step up for a win in the demos.

Monday Ratings: The CW Starts Week on Good Note

CW’s new Gossip Girl/One Tree Hill lineup brought the network it’s best Monday performance in the 18-34 demo.  Meanwhile, CBS took the night with the 18-49 crowd while ABC was tops in total viewers.

Monday Ratings: CBS Comedies Have Last Laugh

Although Dancing with the Stars was yesterday’s most-watched program, the series had its lowest-rated episode ever.  ABC ended up with the win in with the viewers, while CBS’ strong comedy lineup secured a victory in the demos.

Real World Hollywood

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (4/14)
  • Bones (FOX, 8pm):  New episode.  “When a motorcycle racer’s remains are discovered in a national park, Brennan and Booth hunt for his killer.”  I hear this is a great show.  I just wish Angel wasn’t flirting with a new woman.
  • One Tree Hill (CW, 9pm):  New episode.  “Lucas tries to deal with being left at the altar.”  He’ll find comfort in the arms of a young blonde thing later.
  • Rules of Engagement (CBS, 9:30pm):  New episode.  “Adam and Jennifer go on a vacation with Jeff and Audrey, but first they have to endure a time share sales pitch.”  What do I get if I endure the show?
  • Medium (NBC, 10pm):  “Kelly Preston guest stars as venture capitalist Meghan Doyle, who strikes up a professional and personal connection with Joe.”  Anjelica Huston, Rosanna Arquette and now Kelly Preston.  Is this the channel?

Friday Ratings: The Numbers Favor CBS

Viewers proved they didn’t care how the US is represented in the Miss Universe pageant. They’d much rather see someone play Plinko.
