Mel B: ‘America’s Got Talent’ Judges Are Feisty

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Prime Time, Reality, NBC, Features,

Mel BMel B says the new America's Got Talent judging panel is a "discombobulated" but "feisty" group.

The Spice Girls singer is to judge on the new season of the hit talent competition along with supermodel Heidi Klum and says the panel - which includes radio personality Howard Stern and comedian Howie Mandel - all have unique quirks that makes for an interesting dynamic on set.

"They're really nice actually. We all get on. We're a bit of a feisty panel. We all hang out afterwards; so far so good. [Howard] is completely inappropriate and out of everybody on the panel, I get along with him the most! Howard is a bit grumpy sometimes. Heidi Klum is very sweet; we're really good friends. Howie Mandel is a germaphobe - he rides around in his private jet, and then me and Heidi get to ride around in his private jet, too, but you still can't touch his hands! So between the four of us, it's a completely discombobulated group that somehow get on."

Howard Stern In Talks For America’s Got Talent

Howard SternShock jock Howard Stern is in talks to be a judge on America's Got Talent.

The radio host is said to be in "serious negotiations" with network NBC to replace Piers Morgan - who announced his departure earlier this week - and join the panel alongside Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel. According to the Wall Street Journal, if successful, Howard could earn around $15 million a year for the show, which is one of the most successful on US television in the summer months.

He has previously hinted he would enjoy being a panellist on a talent show like American Idol, but was unsure if it would ever happen. Discussing then-judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres, he said last year, he said, "They've got a bunch of people on there who don't have an opinion. Judging is an interesting thing. What I do for a living is a lot more complicated than judging. I have to wake up people. I compete in radio markets and to sit there and judge a karaoke contest, the one criteria would be to have an opinion. It seems that two or three of the judges barely have an opinion."

Sharon Osbourne Taking a Break From The Talk

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Daytime, Talk Shows, CBS, Announcements, News,

Sharon OsbourneSharon Osbourne is taking a break from The Talk to spend more time with her husband. The 58-year-old star insists she is not leaving the discussion program for good, but she will not be on the panel when the show returns after its summer break in September because she wants to be with her spouse, rocker Ozzy Osbourne when he comes off tour.

"I've kept it no secret that I really miss my husband. He'll have been on tour for 18 months by the time it's over. I've spent a lot of time away from him. He gets a break at the end of September and so I've asked for a little break so I can be with him. I don't want to give it up. It's a great, great show. We've all worked really hard over the last year. I'm not going to walk away from that. I just need some real good quality time to be with my hubby."

One reason Sharon wants to return is the close bond she has with co-hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini: "I'm very close to the women on the show. I didn't think that I would be [because] none of us knew each other going into it. We just didn't know each other socially."

Sharon's close friend, however, America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon thinks The Talk will struggle without her. "She's marvelous. She's the caregiver to us all. She just calms us all down."

“I started singing when I was eight years old, because we went to see Phantom of the Opera, so I started singing songs around the house,” the 10-year-old from Philadelphia explained in her pre-taped bio.

Howie Mandel Joins America’s Got Talent

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, NBC, News,

Howie MandelNBC, already facing a programming hole at 10:00, has managed to fill one of its vacancies.

Over the weekend, NBC Universal Television Entertainment Chairman Jeff Gaspin revealed that Howie Mandel will become the newest judge on America’s Got Talent. This news comes just days after David Hasselhoff announced his departure from the summer reality program.

Mandel, who previously hosted for the network, was deemed the perfect fit for Talent.

“If you think about an expertise, Howie has had a Las Vegas show for years and he constantly performs in Las Vegas,” Gaspin said at the Television Critics Association press tour. “So we actually thought — not only is he a great communicator, but he’s actually an expert.”

No start date has yet been announced for the show’s fifth season.

David Hasselhoff Says Goodbye to America’s Got Talent

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, NBC, Rumors,

David Hasselhoff

is leaving America’s Got Talent. The former Baywatch actor, who was hospitalized a number of times in 2009, claims to be working on an as-yet-unknown TV program.

“I am proud that I was part of making the number one rated show for the past four summers,” the 57-year-old actor said. “It’s been a rewarding experience and now I’m thrilled to be able to follow my dream to do my own TV show, which will be announced very shortly.”

Hasselhoff will be leaving a gap on Talent‘s judging panel. No names have yet been suggested to fill the seat next to Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan. “David’s been an integral part of America’s Got Talent and we are sad to see him go,” NBC said in a statement.

It’s believed Hasselhoff may be in participating in a new series for cable. Back in October, daughter Hayley tweeted: “The Hasselhoffs signed the deal with A + E… Get ready for it.”

Wednesday Ratings: Ugly Start for Beautiful Life

When it comes to shows about young adults, it seems audiences prefer characters who are awkward and musical—not pretty and anorexic. Yesterday’s debut of The Beautiful Life bombed despite an ANTM lead-in and raised approximately 5 million less than its FOX competitor (Glee). As Stanford Blatch would say, TBL was Wednesday night’s fashion roadkill.

Mischa Barton in The Beautiful LIfe8pm
