VIDEO: Why Ewoks and Alcohol Don’t Mix

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Talk Shows, NBC, Video,

If the show producers ever decided to replace Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb for an extra hour of this every day, I might actually start watching.

On today’s Halloween-themed broadcast, we all - even die-hard Stars Wars fans - learned a few new facts about those creatures called Ewoks.

  1. They don’t know crap about decoupage.
  2. They love drinking vodka in the morning.
  3. They know how to moonwalk.
  4. They will kick each other in front of the cameras, even before you even say “Action.”
  5. They will hump anything…whether it be ‘s leg or the ground.

Speidi’s Back in LA

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Daytime, Reality, Talk Shows, NBC, Gossip, Video,

captured video of Heidi and Spencer Pratt arriving in LA after their stint in Costa Rica. The couple were part of the cast of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, a show they left several times before they finally chose to leave for good.

Now that they’re back to their lavish lifestyles, Speidi is singing a different tune. They no longer seem angry at NBC and they are denying that they ever cried “torture” against the network in the first place. “I love NBC. I was never suing NBC,” Spencer told that paps as he made his way through the airport. “I guess since you sign a waiver…it’s not called torture.” Or some smart lawyer patiently explained to the newlyweds that they absolutely don’t have a case against the show.

The pair further soaked up the spotlight by appearing on , where they were questioned by Al Roker. He valiantly tried to get real answers out of the couple before finally putting an end to the entire Q and A (view the video above).

Video: The Cosby Show Cast Reunites on The Today Show

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Comedy, Talk Shows, NBC,

was a groundbreaking sitcom that hit the airwaves in 1984, spearheaded by the legendary Bill Cosby. There is so much that can be said about The Cosy Show, which was on the air for eight seasons, ending in 1992, but we will leave it to the cast. 25 years after the show hit the air, a large portion of the cast got together on The Today Show to reminisce about memories, moments, and history. We’ve embedded all three segments here, one above and two after the break. If you grew up on The Cosby Show, then you’ll appreciate these clips. If you came into this world a bit too late to get into it, check them out—you’ll soon realize that there is definitely something missing from television these days that The Cosby Show provided.

The Cosby Show 25th Anniversary Commemorative DVD set is available now.

This Week on TV (12/1-12/7)

Barbara Walters and Tom Cruise

(You can view TV Envy’s Master Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 12/1)
  • Shrek the Halls (ABC, 8pm): Hopefully this Mike Myers laugher will help us all forget The Love Guru.
  • Inside the Actor’s Studio (Bravo, 8pm):  “Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter film franchise, charts his career journey.” I’m not sure I want to see James Lipton enthusiastically talking about Radcliffe’s nude Broadway performance.
  • Heroes (NBC, 9pm):  “Ando, Sam and Frack try to restore Hiro’s memory with a comic book.” Any person trying to follow this series should be given an instruction manual.
  • Boston Legal (ABC, 10pm):  “When Denny receives bad news about the state of his Alzheimer’s, Alan goes before the Massachusetts Supreme Court to plead for access to an experimental drug that can help his condition.” Alzheimers? Maybe Shatner simply forgot why George Takei dislikes him so.

Celebrity Feuds Win for NBC

Celebrity Family Feud

The first ever spin-off of , a game show which itself was originally a spin-off, premiered last night on NBC. Very few changes to the standard show format, along with celebrities and much larger cash prizes helped NBC pull down promising ratings for this summer show.

Feud first began airing in 1976 with host Richard Dawson at the helm. His charm, slightly chiding nature and constant kissing quickly cemented him as one of TV’s best-loved hosts. In those early days, owned the show, which was canceled by the network in 1985.

The show was born again on in 1988, this time with petite Ray Combs holding center stage. This version was officially canceled in 1993, but continued as a syndicated version (amid some host troubles) until 1995. The show would not return again until 1999 on FOX as a daytime syndicated spot. Nine years of set changes and host changes have kept Feud on FOX ever since, with re-runs always available on GSN.

Childhood Obesity Documentary From Al Roker

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Prime Time, Cable, Cable/Satellite,

Al RokerAl Roker knows a thing or two about being a heavy kid, having to shop in the husky section for clothing. We’re all more than familiar with grown up and overweight Roker and his 2002 gastric bypass surgery to drop weight. He’s now hoping to draw more attention to the childhood obesity problem with a new documentary on the Food Network. Childhood Obesity: Danger Zone will air on Saturday at 9:00 p.m. According to Roker, “If you run the numbers out, this would be the first generation that has a shorter life span than their parents. That’s scary.” The rate of childhood obesity is staggering, with more than 12 million kids with weight problems that pose serious health risks. The documentary will look at some kids who were able to gain control of their weight. There are a number of factors for kids’ expanding waist lines, including fast food, sedentary kids, junk food, and a lack of physical education in some schools.

Meredith Vieira’s First Day on the Job

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Daytime, Talk Shows, NBC, HDTV, Internet, News,

Meredith Vieira Meredith Vieira woke up a little earlier than usual this morning to start her new gig on the Today show. While I was only able to catch about a half hour of the program, I’d say she’s off to a great start; Internet reviews agree, saying that Vieira had a solid debut. She seemed at ease and comfortable in her surroundings. She’s by no means a newbie at this sort of thing, but she does have big high heels to fill following Katie Couric’s departure. Her rapport with the rest of the Today show gang, her ability to handle tough news, as well as interject levity and silliness when necessary, all bode well for Today and its ratings. She has pretty wide appeal and I’m sure saying things like she felt “like it’s the first day of school and I’m sitting next to the cutest guy” (referring to Matt Lauer) will make her a welcome morning addition.

Today also revealed its studio, all shiny and cool for their venture into high-def. Bright and modern, the colors and furniture are sure to “pop” for high-def viewers.
