Will Celebrities Shine in Trump’s World?

Celebrity Apprentice

Poker players. TV personalities. Recording artists. Athletes. What do they all have in common? They all want to learn from . Or, they at least want to give that appearance while they collect a paycheck from NBC.

Reality TV has now become much more a medium for quasi- and has-been celebs, rather than an unscripted jaunt where ordinary folks get their chance to shine. But what the hell? Donald Trump is always fun, so why not another season of The Celebrity Apprentice? At this point, NBC’s willing to try anything.

So who makes up the star-studded cast? Mother-daughter team Joan and will join Tionne Watkins (T-Boz of TLC), Brande Roderick (Baywatch), reality TV vet Khloe Kardashian, Annie Duke (reigning poker queen), Natalie Gulbis (pro golfer) and Claudia Jordan (Deal or No Deal winner) to make up the female team.

Omarosa Wreaks Daytime Havoc

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Daytime, Reality, FOX, Gossip, Video,

Omarosa and Wendy Williams gained attention on the The Apprentice for her uncompromising ways. Now, the reality TV star has put her own philosophy into a new book called The Bitch Switch. The book hits shelves in October, but Omarosa’s promotion of the piece has already begun…explosively.

The vixen appeared recently on The Wendy Williams Show, but instead of talking about the book the two ended up exchanging insults. “I wanted to throw her off the set,” Williams admitted after the incident to reporters.

It began right away with Omarosa’s introduction, which she said she did not like and announced she would not be “disrespected.” Williams took the book to show it off to cameras, but Omarosa quickly snatch the tome out of her hands. “Omarosa wished her career was my career,” Williams went on to reporters after the interview. “Omarosa is a delusional, D-list, pathetic woman.” Me-ow.

The Real Housewives of New York City: One Shrew Too Many or New Guilty Pleasure?

Description

I remember once a media professor at the University of Washington asked our class the simple but loaded question: Why do you watch TV? The class’ answer seemed to boil down to two main reasons: we watch television because we aspire to be what we see or because what we see makes us feel better about our own lives.

This memory popped into my head as I watched a mini-marathon of TV’s newest ‘docu-reality’ series the . What I can’t yet decide is which category of reason for watching TV this show falls into. I’m pretty sure it is the latter.

After shame watching three seasons of the , I expected the NYC ladies to be more of the same cliche of spoiled, self-indulgent, wasteful and shameless cougars albeit a bit less tan, with sleeker hair and a much less appealing accent. And while they are to an extent all of those things, much like New York City itself, these women do seem more worldly and educated than their Southern California counterparts. It is also clear that despite Bravo’s spin-off name for this show, these women are not housewives at all. In fact, it appears they spend very little time, if any, at home.

This Week on TV (3/24-3/30)

The Hills

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (3/24)
  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30):  The overly-promoted Britney Spears cameo finally airs tonight.  Let’s just be happy the show is only 30-minutes long.
  • Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (CW, 9pm):  Nicole Scherzinger gives the girls tips on vocal expression.  Sadly, advice on releasing solo albums is not something she can dish out.
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  New episode.  “A bride is murdered at her wedding.  The investigation takes the CSIs to a strip club where the bachelor party took place.”  Strip club? This would be the perfect time for another Elizabeth Berkley appearance.
  • The Hills (MTV, 10pm):  Season premiere.  I wonder if LC wore any of her own designs in Paris.  Doubt it.
