Another night with Idol means another win for FOX. Even if the other networks had formed an alliance, their numbers still wouldn’t surpass the reality juggernaut.
8pm
- American Idol (12.6/30 in 18-49) opened and closed the evening with 30.3 million viewers. That large number was actually a 3 million decline from Tuesday’s premiere.
- Deal or No Deal (3.1/8) negotiated with 11.8 million.
- Wife Swap (5.2 million, 2.0/5) kissed about 2.5 million goodbye.
- Power of 10 (4.9 million, 1.1/3) lost strength from last week.
- Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants (1.6 million, 0.7/2) was down just a tad.
9pm

- Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2.4/5) interrogated 8.8 million.
- Supernanny (2.5/6) sat 6.1 million down in the naughty chair.
- Gossip Girl* (0.5/1) texted 1.1 million.
10pm
- Law & Order (11.6 million, 3.6/9 in 18-49) brought 600,000 more to justice since last week.
- Cashmere Mafia (5.4 million, 2.2/6) shrunk another 800,000 viewers.

- Wife Swap (7.8 million, 3.0/8) was a distant second in viewers.
- Power of 10’s 6.1 million (1.7/5) lacked impact.
- A Back to You* block (1.4/4) turned in 4.2 million.
- Crowned: The Mother of All Pageant‘s 1.8 million (0.7/2) lacked lustre.
9pm

Drew Carey Engaged

Drew Carey, come on down! You’re the next celebrity to get engaged!
That’s right, everybody’s favorite four-eyes has decided to take the Plinko-like plunge. The new host of The Price is Right got engaged to his girlfriend, Nicole Jaracz earlier this week. Carey says that no date has been set just yet, but I’m sure he plans on getting as close to the perfect day as he can – without going over. The bigger question is, as he spins the big wheel of wedding plans, will Carey be able to find room in his busy schedule to get hitched? Not only will he be pulling double duty on Price and resuming duties on CBS’s The Power of 10, but he must also find time to help control the pet population by getting his pets spayed or neutered.

Drew Carey Injured During ‘Price is Right’ Rehearsal

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories:
Apparently, Bob Barker made hosting The Price is Right easier than it looked. Drew Carey found out the hard way that the game show isn’t so easy—which leads me to wonder if he’ll get workman’s comp for the incident. This is what went down: during a Friday rehearsal of the Grocery Game (sounds harmless enough, right?), Carey hurt his hand. It shouldn’t be that tough, really—contestants are simply guessing the price of common household items. The trick, it seems, was in operating a spinning turntable—which Carey got caught in. The incident was enough to warrant a trip to the hospital, but he got right back to work the same day, this time wearing a splint. Look for Carey in his new hosting gig next month. For now, you can get your fill of him on the CBS game show Power of 10, which in a sea of bland summer offerings, did provide a little excitement in our household. Carey seemed to pull off the hosting gig there with a fair amount of sass, but will he be able to fill the Barker’s big shoes?

Drew Carey To Host The Price is Right
Drew Carey is officially the new host of the Price is Right, the must-coveted gig vacated earlier this summer by Bob Barker. Carey announced his new role to David Letterman during Monday’s Late Show taping. Carey will also be hosting another CBS game show next month, the Power of 10. Promotional advertisements for the show have been running most of the summer. Carey will begin on Power of 10 August 7, though it has not yet been announced when he will start on Price. Rosie O’Donnell’s name was attached to Price earlier, but the comedienne refused the job when she found she’d have to move to L.A. It’s Drew Carey, former ABC fixture, for sure this time, leaving only one question to linger: will he be able to fill Barker’s sizable shoes and hold that famous skinny mike?
