Wednesday Ratings: Celebrity Circus Lacks Dazzle

Even though it fared better than the quickly-cancelled Secret Talents of the Stars, Celebrity Circus didn’t do anything to brag about. NBC’s latest reality offering was outdone by a repeat during its hour. By night’s end, FOX was the winner in both the viewers and the demos.
8pm
- So You Think You Can Dance (8.8 million, 3.4/11 in 18-49) had the night’s best demos.
- Deal or No Deal (8.5 million, 2.1/7) was a close second in its hour.
- The Price is Right (1.2/4) dialed up 6.1 million.
- Wife Swap* (1.4/5) turned in 4 million.
- America’s Next Top Model* (0.5/2) trailed behind with 1.2 million.

MONDAY (6/9)
- The Bachelorette (ABC, 8pm): “DeAnna accuses the 9 remaining bachelors of refusing to take the competition seriously, but first she invites them to compete in a singing contest.” I don’t understand why those guys don’t see the importance of a proper serenade.
- Quads with 2 Moms (Discovery Health, 8pm): “A same-sex couple who want to become parents undergo fertility treatments and both become pregnant with twins.” I just can’t believe Oprah didn’t get a hold of this story first!
- Greek (ABC Family, 8pm): Season finale. “The Cyprus-Rhodes students head to the beach for Spring Break where Casey finally decides to leave the past behind and cut loose.” And by “decides”, we mean she finally “downs” a couple of shots and forgets the past.
- Nashville Star (NBC, 9pm): Season/network premiere. “Billy Ray Cyrus takes over the hosting from Jewel, who moves to the judges’ table alongside country stars John Rich and Jeffrey Steele.” I never thought the day would come when I would compare Jewel to Paula Abdul.

MONDAY (6/2)
- Instant Star (The N, 8pm EST): Season premiere. “Jude distracts herself with work on her third album in an attempt to avoid choosing between Jamie and Tommy.” Someone who chooses to work because of men? That’s unheard of!
- The Bachelorette (ABC, 8pm): “Eleven of the bachelors find themselves backstage at Ellen Degeneres’ talk show, where they show off their ‘Ellen’ boxer shorts.” Okay, I’m confused. Who exactly are they trying to impress?
- Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search for Elle Woods (MTV, 10pm): Series premiere. I do hope these girls realize there’s no Jake Gyllenhaal at the end of this tunnel.
- The Mole (ABC, 10pm): Series return. “The fifth season kicks off with one of the contestants ends up stranded alone on a deserted beach.” WARNING: Fake idol useless on this show.

Wednesday Ratings: FOX Dances Over CBS
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Games, Prime Time, Reality, Sports, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, So You Think You Can Dance, Ratings,
While it wasn’t the evening’s stronger performer, last night’s episode of SYTYCD did well enough to get FOX past CBS.
8pm
- So You Think You Can Dance (3.6/10 in 18-49) welcomed 9.3 million to its Wednesday time slot.
- The Price is Right (7.9 million, 1.5/5) rounded up another 200,000.
- Wife Swap (2.1/7) settled in with 5.8 million.
- NBC‘s coverage of the Stanley Cup finals (2.0/6) had 4.6 million cheering.
- Farmer Wants a Wife (1.0/3) averaged 2.8 million over two hours.

MONDAY (5/26)
- American Gladiators (NBC, 8pm): “A tree climber tries to rise above a SWAT officer.” If tree boy gets a chance at the wall, his opponent will have no choice but to gas him.
- Flavor of Love 3 (VH1, 9pm): “The cast of Season 3 reunites.” I often wonder what a sober Brigitte Nielsen thinks about this.
- Denise Richards: It’s Complicated (E!, 10pm): “Denise goes on a blind date with a so-called regular guy.” When you’re getting alimony and child support from your celebrity ex, you can afford to go out with “regular guys”.
- Living Lohan (E!, 10:30): The title of the tonight’s premiere is “Mommy Will Fix It.” I hope she’s referring to Ali’s hair.

ABC Axes Men in Trees
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cancellations,
Well, it’s not like we didn’t this one coming…
Back in March, underdog Men in Trees was rudely pushed aside to make room for Women’s Murder Club. At that time, I said the program’s dismal ratings probably had something to do its inconsistent treatment. Now ABC has finally made it perfectly clear how it feels about the struggling show. The network has just officially cancelled it.

Even though it was the umpteenth time Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton had faced off, ABC’s debate actually did quite well…especially on an American Idol night.

- Deal or No Deal (9.7 million, 2.6/8) and Big Brother (6.1 million, 2.3/7) were both up 100,00 from last week.
- ‘Til Death (2.0/7) had 5.8 million laughing; Back to You (7 million, 2.4/7) did even better.
