“I promise you, there is hope.”
In Gone Too Far, a documentary series premiering next week, Adam Goldstein speaks those words to a struggling addict. The eight-part program, which had been in limbo since the deejay’s Aug. 28th death, was recently given the go-ahead after approval from DJ AM’s loved ones.

MTV to Air DJ AM Drug Addiction Series
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Reality, Cable, MTV, News,
A DJ AM-project left in limbo will reportedly see the light of day.
Sources close to MTV claim the network has chosen to Gone Too Far, an Intervention-esque series that was completed shortly before the celeb deejay’s August death. In the eight episodes filmed, the former drug user was seen trying to help others with their addiction problems.
Although it’s believed DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein) may have died as a result of an overdose, it’s hoped the series will highlight Goldstein’s message rather than exploit his death.
No air date has yet been announced for the program. The networks execs are working closely with Adam’s family about the rumored unveiling.

VIDEO: Preview Season 5 of The Hills
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, MTV, Video,
Apparently I didn’t need to watch Laguna Beach to know that I’m not a Kristin Cavallari fan. (That said - I’m also not a Lo fan, a Stephanie fan, a Brody fan…)
Based on this preview, I now know everything I need to about the upcoming season of The Hills: Justin Bobby had his cowboy hat stolen by Spencer Pratt, Kristin (Lauren’s replacement) is kinda like herpes and Heidi Montag will not be a mother anytime soon (thank goodness).
If you feel compelled to find out more, tune in to MTV on Tuesday, September 29th.

DJ AM Talked About Holding Crack Pipe to MTV
Adam Goldstein’s sudden death on Friday came just weeks before a reality project he had been working on was set to premiere.
Goldstein (a.k.a. DJ AM) had been collaborating with MTV on an Intervention-esque series for the channel. In the eight episodes already shot, Adam, a former drug user, devoted his time to help others with addiction. Now it’s not known whether Gone Too Far will ever air.
Although official an autopsy on the 36-year-old has not yet been completed (toxicology and tissue results are still needed), sources are claiming that drugs were found in Goldstein’s apartment at the time of his death. Adam, who may have been distraught over a recent breakup, was reportedly in the possession of crack when his body was discovered.

Britney Spears and Russell Brand in New VMA Plug
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Music, Cable, MTV, Commercials, Video,
At this time last year, Britney Spears was still trying to learn Russell Brand’s name. This time around, she can’t stop repeating it.
In this commercial for next month’s VMAs, the pop princess not-so-secretly wonders if she’ll score a personal invite from the two-time host. “Should I have played it up more when he was flirting with me last year? I have to admit there is something sexy about his dangerous ways,” she asks.
Meanwhile, the comedian worries he may have offended her during their last series of spots. “Some of those things I said could have been construed as offensive. I hope she don’t think ill of me.”
The 2009 Video Music Awards air live on September 13.

Paris Hilton Revealed in New Documentary
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, Cable, MTV, Gossip, News, Rumors,
Near the beginning of the Paris Hilton documentary, which recently aired on MTV, Hilton stated, “I didn’t really plan this, it just happened.”
“This” would be her unprecedented fame and fortune—the empire she created from simply being an heiress. “I haven’t really done anything I’m ashamed of,” she added.
Clips, weird camera angles and little snippets of interviews made the documentary highly confusing, not at all cohesive. In addition to following Paris around, MTV cameras addressed Kathy and Rick Hilton, Donald Trump, and others who have helped shape the heiress’s life.

Paris Hilton Opens Up in New MTV Documentary
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, MTV, Gossip,
Paris Hilton said she doesn’t “want people thinking of me as this blonde heiress…airhead,” but almost in the same breath admits, “but that is kind of my brand.”
This all takes place in the new MTV documentary Paris, Not France. that gives viewers a behind-the-scenes (and behind the reality TV shows) look at Paris’ life. It of course sort of defrauds the whole idea of reality TV, but there’s no reason to keep pretending there’s anything real about it anyway.

MTV to Showcase More Teen Pregnancy
In what I truly believe to be one of the worst reality series ideas ever, MTV showcases young moms-to-be. Not that 16 and Pregnant isn’t interesting, captivating and becoming highly popular. But it could also compel young women to get knocked up on purpose. The cable network appeals to a huge demographic of young teens…and now, all they have to do to become reality stars is have a baby. The first season of the series ends this week, but already MTV is looking ahead to the future with a second season.

Jessica Simpson’s Return to Reality
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, MTV, Gossip, Rumors,
Jessica Simpson will soon return to the MTV family. The songstress is scheduled to start filming for a VH1 reality series that focuses on being beautiful. The singer enjoyed four seasons several years ago with Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, a show which centered around Simpson and her then-husband Nick Lachey.
But now, she’ll be leading the cast all on her own. The Price of Beauty will give us a traveling Simpson, who tours the globe to chat with regular women as well as more well-known female personalities who belong to the beauty industry. She’ll look at fashions and explore beauty regimes, such as dieting fads. Filming is supposed to begin next month.

Real World Packs Bags for Washington D.C.
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, MTV,
A few weeks ago I said the Real Housewives franchise was coming dangerously close to becoming the next Real World. Who knew it was actually the other way around?
Weeks before the launch of Season 22, the producers of the MTV series announced their newest destination: Washington, D.C. That’s the same location Housewives will be hitting up next. Has President Obama started a trend?
“Young people have never been more engaged in what’s happening in this country and Washington, D.C., is the perfect place for The Real World cast to express their opinions and pursue their passions,” executive producer Jonathan Murray said in a statement.
Look for the nation’s capital edition to debut sometime in 2010. Meanwhile, Real World: Cancun premieres on June 24.
