MONDAY (8/2)
- The Bachelorette (ABC, 8pm): Season finale. “Ali arrives in Bora Bora with two guys (Chris L. and Roberto) and one rose. Her family are also there—-and they do her no favor by liking both bachelors equally.” Her family said it was so hard to choose in this loser-loser situation.
- The Good Guys (FOX, 9pm): “A crime family dispatches an assassin to kill a man in the Witness Protection Program after Dan accidentally exposes the man’s identity.” He forgot to adjust his Facebook privacy settings to “Friends Only.”
- The Closer (TNT, 9pm): “Provenza stumbles into a compromising situation, as is his habit, when he romances a flight attendant on company time—-then discovers a dead body in her condominium.” It was too big to stuff into the overhead compartment.

VIDEO: Diane Sawyer Says Goodbye to GMA

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: ABC, News, Video,
After nearly 11 years of waking up at ungodly hours, Diane Sawyer said goodbye to the viewers of Good Morning America this morning.
Sawyer’s final day on the job came with a number of tributes - some funny, some more emotional - and a recap of her memorable stories. Meanwhile, Chris Cuomo, who is leaving the program to cohost 20/20, handed over his newsreader reins to Juju Chang and watched George Stephanopoulos introduce himself as the new coanchor.
“I’m going to take the advice of that immortal philosopher Dr. Seuss, who said, ‘Don’t cry because it happened, smile because it happened,’” Diane said. “And this morning I am beaming at all of you. My heart is smiling and the privilege of sharing my mornings with all of you has been more than I can say.”
You can watch the late night comedians say goodbye to the “queen of morning television” after the jump.

Tyra Banks may love to talk about herself, but Paulina Porizkova is the one with apparent ego problem.
After only one year and two cycles with America’s Next Top Model, the former supermodel has already been given the boot. Porizkova announced the news last night to talk show host Craig Ferguson. “Listen, do you know why I am in Los Angeles ... because I am looking for a job because I was fired by America’s Next Top Model on my birthday,” the 44-year-old revealed.

Video: Simon Cowell Talks Ryan Seacrest, Kara DioGuardi, Idol Contract

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, CBS, American Idol, Video,
Place the always blunt Simon Cowell on a program that airs late, late at night and what do you get? A very relaxed, humorous and somewhat revealing interview with the American Idol judge.
During his sit-down last night with Craig Ferguson, the Brit first likened frenemy Ryan Seacrest to a “sausage dog.” (Cowell would, of course, be considered the bigger German Shepherd.) When the Late Late Show host joked about the analogy, the 49-year-old quickly laughed it off and said “not that kind.” He did, though, continue to compare Ryan to one of those annoying “little dogs” gets on your leg and “does all that stuff” to get your attention. (Thank you for that visual image.)

Craig Ferguson Surprises Audience with Wedding News

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, Talk Shows, CBS, Gossip, Video,
Q: What does a late night host do when he needs fresh material? A: He gets married.
On last night’s episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, the Scottish comedian surprised the audience with details about his recent time off. The 46-year-old revealed that he wed his longtime girlfriend, Megan Wallace Cunningham, during the holiday break.
“The wedding took place in Vermont, where they have legalized gay civil unions—and I married a woman,” Ferguson clarified. “But I am European, so I was both the groom and the maid of honor.” Craig later joked that his ring - installed with the latest GPS technology - would shock him like a dog collar should he ever get too close to a stripper.
This was Ferguson’s third trip down the aisle. He also has a 7-year-old son from his second marriage.
The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cable, FX, HBO, Entourage, Editorial, Features,

Even though the previous television season was marred by the annoying writers’ strike, I find myself really excited for the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards. Not only will this ceremony give us a chance to start anew, it’ll be the academy’s chance to celebrate what’s new.
Tonight, two basic cable shows (Damages, Mad Men) will get a chance to win for Outstanding Drama Series. (That would be an Emmy first.) Meanwhile, nominees in several categories will have an opportunity to compete in a Sopranos-less environment. An added bonus? A new category. This year, reality show hosts will finally be acknowledged for their programming contributions as well.
So who won? Who lost? Who ran up and grabbed the award even though they didn’t win? Read our West Coast play-by-play account of this evening’s telecast and find out!

David Letterman Returns With Writer Support

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, ABC, Cable, CBS, NBC, Daily Show, The, News,
David Letterman has accomplished what no other late night host has managed to do: reach an agreement with the writers. Of course, owning your own company does have its perks.
Letterman and his production company, WorldWide Pants, have been sitting down with the Writers Guild for some time now in hopes of working out a deal. Late today, the two sides came to terms on an independent agreement that would allow both The Late Show with David Letterman and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson to come back on Jan. 2nd. Although the two talk shows will technically be competing with the returns of Leno, O’Brien and Kimmel, CBS will easily have the advantage. Letterman and Ferguson will be the only ones with the scripted jokes.
Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart will also be returning - sans writers - on January 7th.
