A lack of originals and Showcase Showdowns put CBS in unfamiliar territory behind NBC.
8pm
- Ghost Whisperer* (6.7 million, 1.7/6 in 18-49) whittled away 2 million.
- A Most Outrageous Moments* repeat (1.5/6) drew in 5.5 million.
- House* (5 million, 1.5/6) did slightly better than last week’s Bones.
- Friday Night Smackdown (4.1 million, 1.2/4) saw 300,000 tune out.
- Desperate Housewives* (0.8/3) entertained 3.1 million couch potatoes.

MONDAY (4/14)
- Bones (FOX, 8pm): New episode. “When a motorcycle racer’s remains are discovered in a national park, Brennan and Booth hunt for his killer.” I hear this is a great show. I just wish Angel wasn’t flirting with a new woman.
- One Tree Hill (CW, 9pm): New episode. “Lucas tries to deal with being left at the altar.” He’ll find comfort in the arms of a young blonde thing later.
- Rules of Engagement (CBS, 9:30pm): New episode. “Adam and Jennifer go on a vacation with Jeff and Audrey, but first they have to endure a time share sales pitch.” What do I get if I endure the show?
- Medium (NBC, 10pm): “Kelly Preston guest stars as venture capitalist Meghan Doyle, who strikes up a professional and personal connection with Joe.” Anjelica Huston, Rosanna Arquette and now Kelly Preston. Is this the Lifetime channel?

Friday Ratings: The Numbers Favor CBS
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Games, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, Specials, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Ratings,
Viewers proved they didn’t care how the US is represented in the Miss Universe pageant. They’d much rather see someone play Plinko.
8pm
- Ghost Whisperer (8.7 million, 2.5/9 in 18-49) had the night’s best demos.
- America’s Funniest Home Videos* (5.7 million, 1.6/5) was slightly down from last week.
- Bones* (4.8 million, 1.3/4) grew by 250,000.
- Friday Night Smackdown (4.4 million, 1.4/4) slipped by 150,000.
- Amne$ia (4.1 million, 1.0/4) lost 400,000 forgetful fans.

- A new Ghost Whisperer (2.3/8 in 18-49) spooked up 9.3 million.
- America’s Funniest Home Videos* (6 million, 1.5/5) did better than an episode of Grey‘s.
- Friday Night Smackdown (4.56 million, 1.4/5) fought hard for its third place spot.
- Bones* (4.54 million, 1.2/4) was a close fourth.
- Amne$ia (4.51 million, 1.3/4) put up a good effort.

Friday Ratings: NBC Makes It Two in a Row

Once again, a lack of competition proves to be helpful for NBC. The Peacock network followed up a Thursday night win with another one last night.
8pm
- The NCAA tournament (3.1/10 in 18-49) covered the spread with 8.8 million.
- A repeat of Bones* (5.2 million, 1.4/5) did better than the canceled Jezebel James.
- Amne$ia (5 million, 1.3/5) was down a few notches from last week.
- Grey’s Anatomy* (4.2 million, 1.1/4) was up a smidge.
- Friday Night Smackdown (1.2/4) had 4.1 million in its hold.

FOX Renews Prison Break, Cancels Jezebel James

FOX to Jezebel: “Three strikes, you’re out.”
After only two weeks on air, the new comedy starring Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose has just been given the boot. The Return of Jezebel James - which averaged only 3.2 million viewers during its hour long debut - failed to give its network a reason to feel hopeful. After a second dismal outing, FOX opted to pull the plug on the show….effective immediately.
This news comes shortly after Canterbury’s Law was shifted to the Friday 9pm time slot. That move was prompted by the program’s lackluster returns in its original Monday position. Now that Jezebel has been axed, it’s unclear which show and/or repeat will serve as Canterbury‘s lead-in during the interim.

MONDAY (3/24)
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30): The overly-promoted Britney Spears cameo finally airs tonight. Let’s just be happy the show is only 30-minutes long.
- Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (CW, 9pm): Nicole Scherzinger gives the girls tips on vocal expression. Sadly, advice on releasing solo albums is not something she can dish out.
- CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm): New episode. “A bride is murdered at her wedding. The investigation takes the CSIs to a strip club where the bachelor party took place.” Strip club? This would be the perfect time for another Elizabeth Berkley appearance.
- The Hills (MTV, 10pm): Season premiere. I wonder if LC wore any of her own designs in Paris. Doubt it.

FOX Moves Canterbury’s Law
Even though I predicted ER would outlast Canterbury’s Law, I didn’t the latter’s demise would come so soon.
To be fair, the FOX show hasn’t yet been cancelled—but it’s really just a matter of time. After a few disappointing turns in it’s regular time slot, the network has already chosen to make a few adjustments.
Come this Monday, repeats of House will immediately fill the 8pm time slot once filled by Canterbury’s Law. The Julianna Margulies program will then be relegated to the TV wasteland (otherwise known as Fridays @ 9pm) effective March 28.
Unfortunately, Canterbury‘s new time slot will only guarantee the show a slow death. It’s lead-in, The Return of Jezebel James, has also proven to be a ratings dud.

Monday Ratings: Returning Shows Get Warm Welcome
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Dancing With The Stars, The Bachelor, Ratings,
For the first time in quite a while, it appears we may have had more original episodes on TV last night than repeats. Although CBS’ comedy lineup saw strong numbers, it couldn’t outmatch the debut of Dancing with the Stars. ABC ended up winning the evening in the viewers and demos.
8pm
- Dancing with the Stars (5.5/15 in 18-49) waltzed its way to 20.9 million.
- The Big Bang Theory (3.7/11) kicked off the evening with 9.1 million; How I Met Your Mother (9.7 million, 4.3/11) soared by 3 million from last week.
- Canterbury’s Law (5.7 million, 1.7/5) dropped by nearly 2 million.
- My Dad is Better Than Your Dad (4.7 million, 1.5/4) shrunk by 2.2 million.
- Gossip Girl* (1.3 million, 0.6/2) was actually up by 100,000.
