Jackson Series to Debut Next Month

A&E has finally announced the date for their Jackson family reality series, filming for which has already begun. turned down a Jacksons reunion concert, putting a halt to the proposed series. His death this past summer brought new life to the idea.

Now, the show will include an in-depth look at how the family is coming to terms with the loss of it’s most well-known son. So far, there’s no definite word on whether or not Michael’s three children will be a part of the series. will premiere on December 13. Six episodes have been ordered so far.

Despite a report claiming Michael Jackson’s three children would soon become reality stars, the trio’s legal guardian says that simply isn’t so.

In the upcoming A&E series, The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty, the cameras will follow the surviving Jackson 5 members and will also include 19 other relatives with the same last name. Even though Janet and her mother are both expected to be involved, Katherine tells TMZ that the formerly masked Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket will not.

Lifetime Coming to Its End

Some things can only last so long. A&E has just announced a deal to purchase the Lifetime Network—a deal which could herald yet another move for .

The A&E acquisition will create few staffing changes at Lifetime Entertainment Services. A&E Television Networks is a partnership between Disney/ABC, Hearst Corp. and NBC Universal. The new merger changes only one thing: now, NBC Universal is part of the deal. Previously, Lifetime was a 50/50 partnership between Disney/ABC and Hearst. As a result of the new merger, A&E Network, , the History Channel, Lifetime Movie Network, Bio, History International, Lifetime Real Women, History en Espanol, Military History and the Crime and Investigation Network will all be included in the new entity.

The Closer: Mary McDonnell has just lined up her next basic cable job. The Battlestar Galactica vet just has been cast as Christina Hatcher, head of the Force Investigation Division. Unfortunately for Brenda, this captain won’t exactly be a member of her fan club. McDonnell is slated to appear in several Season 5 episodes.

Steven Seagal Brings His Muscle to TV

Back in January, Sylvester Stallone reintroduced audiences to his iconic John Rambo character. Earlier this month, Jean-Claude Van Damme’s JCVD opened stateside. Now Steven Seagal is looking to get his face back out in the mainstream.

Although he’s currently known for his straight-to-video releases, the Under Seige star has been taking down bad guys in his real life for some time now. For approximately 20 years, the martial artist has been a fully-commissioned deputy with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana. In addition to assisting in the Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts, the expert marksman has worked with the local SWAT team and helped fellow officers with hand-to-hand combat techniques.
