One of these evenings NBC will get it right. Just days after witnessing a painful debut by The Chopping Block, the network did it again. Yesterday’s premiere of Kings failed to deliver any power to the Sunday night lineup. CBS wound up winning the viewers while ABC topped the demos.

• The Amazing Race 14 (10.4 million, 3.0/8 in 18-49) picked up 200,000.
• Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (9.5 million, 3.0/8) did the same as last week.
• The Simpsons (6 million, 2.8/8) remained steady.
• Kings (6 million, 1.6/4) had the lowest demo of any original last night.
• King of the Hill (5.4 million, 2.4/6) added on 500,000.
• CW’s broadcast of Moonstruck (0.2/1) attracted 1.2 million.

9pm

• Desperate Housewives (14 million, 5.0/12 in 18-49) had the night’s best numbers.
• Cold Case (12.9 million, 2.9/7) improved by 300,000.
• Family Guy (7.2 million, 3.6/9) was even with last Sunday; American Dad (5.8 million, 2.9/7) rounded up 500,000 more.

10pm

The Unit (10.9 million, 2.7/7 in 18-49) reached a season high.
• Brothers & Sisters (10.6 million, 3.7/9) was up slightly.
• The Celebrity Apprentice (6.7 million, 2.7/7) lost another 900,000.
