Alice Tan Ridley could soon be following in the footsteps of her daughter, Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe. On March 20, she’ll be auditioning for America’s Got Talent in New York.

“I would not be entering the competition if I did not know I could do well. Singing is what I do and I know I can do this,” Ridley told RadarOnline.com. “I haven’t told Gabby yet but I’m sure she will support me like I support her as a performer.”

“I’m proud of my daughter and hopefully America’s Got Talent will give me the chance to shine and I’m really looking forward to the audition and doing well if I get through,” the frequent New York subway performer added.

Alice can take much of the credit for her daughter’s success. Following her own audition for the movie Precious, she encouraged Gabourey to audition for the film.
