Lindsay Lohan: No Emmy for Guest Star

Lindsay Lohan Tabloid-seller will not be submitting herself for an Emmy nomination this year, though her guest starring role on Ugly Betty was well-received by critics and fans.

Lohan appeared in the show’s season finale and is slated to guest star in five episodes next season. “We felt that the appearance wasn’t enough, and look forward to the next five episodes,” Lohan’s publicist offered these words to the press. As Lohan is scheduled to star in additional episodes, it seems likely she’ll pitch her hat into the ring for next year’s Emmy race.

Linds isn’t the only star who surprisingly won’t be submitting her name for the coveted prize. Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl incurred a ton of bad press for her writer-bashing statement that she would not go for the TV gold. “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination,” was Heigl’s controversial comment.

This year’s Emmy award season is much less about who’s in than who’s out…so what gives? Susan Lucci tried for nearly two decades to win this top honor, while other actresses seem surprisingly flip about the event. Could it be that they, like the public, are so wrung-out and bored with that they’d just rather not attend or be involved in any way?

Acting is the only profession in the world where the stars repeatedly and continuously pat themselves on the back, honor themselves with gold statuettes and wear free dazzling designer clothes the whole time they’re doing it. So a few actresses don’t want to participate. So give the free goods to someone else and we’ll just continue to pile on the accolades because other stars managed to -plainly and simply- do their bloody jobs.
