Is T.R. Knight Leaving Grey’s Anatomy?
Although it seemed like we had moved past the Isaiah Washington controversy and Katherine Heigl’s controversial remarks, the backstage drama at Grey’s Anatomy continues. Just over a month after Dr. Erica Hahn’s exit comes word of another possible Seattle Grace departure. This one being a voluntary one.
According to Entertainment Weekly, T.R. Knight (Dr. George O’Malley) has asked Shonda Rhimes to be released from the show - three years shy of his contract’s expiration date. This news comes after earlier rumors that Knight had been skipping table reads and had recently walked off the set during filming. (A source denied that ever happened.)

The reason for T.R.‘s possible farewell varies slightly depending on the source. EW claims the actor - who was at the center of Washington’s 2007 dismissal - simply feels that it is “time to move on.” Meanwhile, the AP says the actor is not pleased with his current storyline.
But what about Knight’s relationship with Heigl? (The two are close friends off-screen.) Could his dissatisfaction be tied to the rumors that she may be leaving the show as well? (Many have speculated that the strange Izzie-Denny storyline may eventually give the rising movie star an out.) Whatever the reason, I hope T.R. has a backup plan. I can’t imagine his film career is as bright as Katherine’s.
