FOX’s New Shows: A Lucky Seven?

will offer up no less than seven new shows for the next television season - and that’s just for a start. The network could choose up to ten new programs to round out the schedule.

Right now, seven shows have been given the go-ahead to put forth a pilot for the network. This includes four comedies and three dramas. Entertainment president Kevin Reilly stated that he plans to order five new comedies and five (or more) dramas for the upcoming season.

Find out what FOX has in store for you after the jump.

The Station will feature a character who’s serving the CIA from South America. Ben Stiller is an executive producer, making this one a comedy. The main operative of the mission, of course, will be surrounded by an entire cast of quirky co-workers.

Walorsky is all about an ex-police officer who is now a security guard serving a mall in Buffalo, NY. Upon receiving an idiotic partner, lazy Walorsky must at last step up to the plate to get his job done. This, too, is slated as a comedy.

FOX also hopes to make you laugh with Two Dollar Beer, which focuses on a middle-class family living in Detroit and their group of (apparently beer-drinking) friends.

But of all the comedies the network is presenting, Sons of Tucson confuses me the most. This one is evidently about a man who is hired by three wealthy brothers to act like their father, as their actual dad is in prison for white-collar crime.

Hour-long dramas planned by FOX include Maggie Hill, a medical-oriented show about a female surgeon. She’s great at her job - the adult-onset schizophrenia she suffers from isn’t really a problem at all. I have a feeling someone got the idea for this after remarking on FOX’s success with House.

Human Target is, yes that’s right, based on the DC comic books of the same title. If you’re not familiar, this is all about bodyguard Christopher Chance - the “human target.”

One planned drama doesn’t yet have a title, and perhaps not much of a plot, either. We’ll leave that one up to the FOX viewers. This one is about past-life investigators who use their skills to solve present-day mysteries.
