Nearly four weeks after an his on-camera injury, actor Cristián de la Fuente is finally getting a chance to rest his arm. Back on April 28, the Dancing with the Stars finalist ruptured a tendon while dancing the Samba with his partner Cheryl Burke. Although it was determined he would need to have surgery, his doctors allowed him to continue on with the competition.
Surprisingly, despite his limited range of motion, the telenovela star rebounded with more focused performances and higher scores. Unfortunately, his inability to carry off more dazzling lifts - and Kristi’s undeniable skill - kept him from snagging the mirrored ball trophy in the end.

With Season 6 finally put to rest, Cristián was just now able to seek treatment for his arm. Dr. Neal S. Elattrache - who worked on the In Plain Sight star Friday morning - said the surgery went beautifully. “I was able to get a perfect repair of the bicep. Cristián will spend about a week in a splint, then start rehab.” It’s expected the 34-year-old will have full recovery back within about three months.
In other DWTS news, two of the professionals from this season’s competition were celebrating news of their own this Friday. Mark Ballas and Derek Hough, who are also members of a musical group called Almost Amy, held a joint party this weekend to mark their recent birthdays. (Derek turned 23 on May 17; Mark turned 22 on May 24.)
Interestingly enough, only one of the two guys was seen that night with their off-screen partner. While People did note that Hough was dancing and kissing with Shannon Elizabeth, Sabrina Bryan was not mentioned at all.
I must say - that Ballas is a confusing guy. First he told Us that he and the Cheetah Girl had broken up, then he denied it. So which is it Mark? Was Sabrina just too busy to join your festivities?
