American Idol 9 would have us believe that pretty, blonde Didi Benami  is a sweet young girl who suffered the terrible pain of seeing her best friend die young. She used music to stay strong after this terrible blow, finally realizing some of her dreams by making it all the way to Hollywood. And while that may all be true, there’s much, much more to this sob story than that - but Idol probably doesn’t want you to know it.

Benami gained attention when she sang “Terrified” during Hollywood Week, but Didi apparently got LA attention long before this. The song was co-written by Idol judge Kara DioGuardi and a man named Jason Reeves who’s worked with past Idols. According to Benami’s own MySpace, she has a working relationship with the songwriter that hints at strong ties to the music industry. On the page, Didi has written “Special Thanks to Jason Reeves for being a magical genius collaborator. I look forward to seeing you again soon.”
