Beauty And The Geek: ‘Viva Mexico!’

Beauty and the GeekFive gorgeous and geeky teams remain on The CW’s Beauty and the Geek - Nicole & Sam, Joshua & Shalandra, William & Jennifer, David & Jasmine and John & Natalie. At this point, we know who the two strongest teams are: Sam/Nicole and John/Natalie.

Jo and Nat went to the elimination room two weeks ago (last weeks episode was a clip show), and survived, eliminating the popular team of Jesse and Erin. Sam is hopeful that John and Nat won’t return, and is less than thrilled when they walk through the door. The half-sincere celebration is cut short, however, as host Mike Richards soon enters the room with surprising news.

What is the big news and which team has a total freakin’ meltdown? Find out after the jump.

Mike informs the teams that the game is changing once again - the show is moving (albeit for one episode) to Mexico. Yeah, I’m not sure how this changes or “evolves” the game either. The whole crew is pumped up about it and drinks to celebrate. Whilst drinking, Jasmine and Nicole get on Will’s case about calling Jenn “fat.” As usual, Will acts like a douche and refuses to reconcile with Jenn before the trip. Sam is busy praising the move to Mexico as a trip to a “a really big, new club.”

Once arriving in Mexico, the teams take a dip in the ocean (with Josh fully clothed and lathered in sunscreen) before discovering that they would be tested this week on the geeks’ ability to salsa dance and the beauties’ ability to remember Mayan culture. Natalie makes it clear that she intends on winning immunity so that she and John can knock off Sam and Nicole. The beauties suit up from head to toe in black combat-like outfits and meet on a ancient Mayan football field (more or less). The beauties are told that they must memorize a series of symbols and the numbers they correspond with. Using those numbers they must unlock three treasure chests located around the field. The catch is, since the grounds are sacred, they are banned from running, lest they be disqualified. The first to three treasures wins.

Ironically enough, Sam and Nicole are the two beauties in the race for the win but good ol’ Sam pulls through and wins the race by a couple feet. Nicole and John now realize how important it is for them to win their next challenge.

After the challenge, the teams take a break for some food and alcohol. Sam and Natalie get a bit cozy in a corner as Natalie campaigns to keep herself in the game. Despite Sam’s close proximity to Nat’s lips, he insists that he is not about to fall into her trap. Meanwhile, the geeks get a little toasted - Dave in particular. When asked if any geek had a “hidden talent,” Dave says he can do a round-off back hand-spring. Will accurately compares Dave to a bumble bee - too fat to be able to do something so acrobatic, but is totally able. Sam joins in the speculation. Much to the delight of everyone in attendance, Dave pulled off an amazing drunken back hand-spring in the sand. As a reward, adorable little babysitter Jasmine plants one right on Dave’s lips. His wide-eyed reaction and speculation over the last time he was kissed on the lips was PRICELESS. After realizing that he liked it, Jasmine gives him another.

Dave carries that motivation into the next days event. Sam and Jennifer had it out beforehand,  pretty much calling it quits as a team. Will is just too stubborn to work with, and claims that Jenn reminds him of the jocks that picked on him in high school - to the viewers it looks like a total cop-out. Jenn doesn’t buy it either. Will says “he’s done” and walks out on Jenn.

At the salsa challenge, the geeks are paired up with salsa professionals, rather than their partners, and are given time to develop a short dance routine. Josh is especially excited to try and win this challenge given his love for dancing (displayed during the prom king/queen episode). The challenge is all about Dave though . When it came time for his dance, he let loose and really moved on the dance floor - he even ripped open his shirt towards the end of the routine. Everyone was impressed, and so was the panel of salsa champs who named Dave the winner. Josh came in second.

All the teams gathered back at the Mayan ruins where they were told that there was one item of business to attend to before they headed back to the states. Mike reminded the teams that he said that the ONLY way to secure a spot in the final four was to win one of the challenges. That said, he revealed that the four members of the two winning teams would have to unanimously vote for one team of the three to send home - no elimination quiz. Immediately, both Will & Jenn and John & Natalie assumed it was them. The two winning teams gathered to debate. The two players who were most at odds about who to send home were teammates - Sam and Nicole. Sam wanted to send the biggest threat (John and Natalie) home, while Nicole wanted to send the team who had made the least progress (Will and Jenn) home. In theory, they should send the less developed team home. But seeing as how John and Natalie did lose both challenges, they should be up for elimination because they haven’t grown enough to win.

In the end, the teams vote to first save Josh and Jasmine. They then reveal that they have also decided to save Will and Jenn - much to both Will and Jenn’s dismay. Dave says that he doesn’t want them to get away with giving up and wants them to be FORCED to get along - forced to change. And so another powerhouse team falls this week. John and the always drunk sounding Natalie are out of the social experiment. We are down to 4 teams! Who gets voted out next week? Stay tuned to find out.
