Ever the busy man, Regis Philbin has decided to pass the hosting duties of America’s Got Talent to fellow daytime talk icon Jerry Springer. Springer, fresh from his stint on Dancing With the Stars, will certainly have his hands full with the popular talent competition. Craig Plestis, from NBC, said in an announcement that Springer will be “the perfect ringmaster” for the show. He commented, “To say the least, he is known for presiding over an unpredictable show where the unexpected is the typical order of each day.” Springer commented on the new hosting gig, saying, “I’ve been around some of America’s most talented individuals on my talk show, so I’ll feel right at home hosting America’s Got Talent.” Philbin cited the “heavy travel schedule” as the cause for stepping down. We wonder if he’s just trying to keep his distance from David Hasselhoff (a.k.a. The Hoff).
