There was a little bit of good news and bad news for NBC this weekend. Although the network saw smaller numbers for Howie Do It‘s second outing, the return of Friday Night Lights did better than the previous time slot holder (Lipstick Jungle). Unfortunately CBS’ dominant lineup made any improvements seem laughable.

• Ghost Whisperer (10.5 million, 2.5/8 in18-49) had the night’s best demos.
• Howie Do It (6.1 million, 2.8/6) was down 21% from last week.
• Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? (1.1/4) registered 5.6 million.
• Wife Swap (4.8 million, 1.7/5) remained steady.
• Everybody Hates Chris (1.6 million, 0.6/2) was up about 200,000; The Game (1.7 million, 0.8/2) added on 300,000.

9pm

• Flashpoint (10.4 million, 2.3/7) reached a series high.
• Don’t Forget the Lyrics (1.3/4) pulled in 4.8 million.
• The premiere of Friday Night Lights (4.5 million, 1.6/5) saw 400,000 more than Lipstick.
• Supernanny (4.4 million, 1.6/5) was down 1 million.
• 13: Fear is Real* (930,000, 0.4/1) was off by 50,000.

10pm

• Numb3rs (10.8 million, 2.4/7 in 18-49) was Friday’s most-watched show.
• 20/20 (6.2 million, 1.8/5) gave up 1.7 million.
• Dateline (5.6 million, 1.5/4) picked up 700,000.
