Casting Corner: Nip/Tuck, Chuck, 90210 and More

Rose McGowanGary Cole

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Nip/Tuck: Now that Eden Lord (AnnaLynne McCord) has moved on to 90210, Dr. Sean McNamara will have to find a new young thing to lust after. Fortunately, he won’t have to go far. For the show’s 6th season, Julian McMahon’s former Charmed co-star, Rose McGowan, will have a four-episode arc as another doctor. She’ll also play another possible love interest of Sean’s. Production on the series begins next week.

Desperate Housewives: Lily Tomlin will soon be taking a second step into Kathryn Joosten’s career. The former West Wing-er is next scheduled for a recurring role on Desperate Houswives as Mrs. McCluskey’s sister. Coincidentally, Joosten once played President Bartlett’s secretary on the political series, a position that Tomlin inherited later.

90210: Actress Jessica Lucas will be the latest pupil to stir things up at West Beverly. The Cloverfield star will play a transfer student who hooks up with one of the boys within the show’s main clique. It’s not known with whom she will be cozying up with. It’s also not known what secret Lucas will be bringing with her. Maybe she’s really Steve and Janet Sander’s grown up daughter?

Lost: Recently we told you about Zuleikha Robinson, now it’s time to get to know Saïd Taghmaoui. The Vantage Point star has just been picked to play Caesar, the series’ next mystery man. (As if we needed another one.) It’s believed Taghmaoui’s recurring character, along with Robinson’s, may stick around long enough to see Season 6.

Gossip Girl: The Princess Bride‘s Wallace Shawn will soon make his mark on another pop culture hit. SPOILER ALERT!!! Shawn is scheduled to appear in several episodes as the father of Serena’s new boyfriend, Aaron. While it’s unclear whether the series will fall in line with the book, Wallace’s character did eventually marry Blair’s mother in the novels. Why, that’s inconceivable!

Chuck: Desperate Housewives’ Gary Cole will next take his slimy ways over to NBC for a guest stint on Chuck. The Office Space star will play a “charming con-man” who just happens to be Sarah’s father as well. (Wouldn’t he make a great addition to the Buy More team?) Cole will make his appearance during a November sweeps episode.
