Despite recent rumors that Kevin Garnett would request a trade to a team that has a better shot at the playoffs, on Tuesday he made clear that those rumors were not valid. Garnett has spent his entire 12 year career with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Although the Big Ticket is out indefinitely with a quad injury, he’s leading the team with 22.4 points per game and an NBA leading 12.8 rebounds per game. Garnett, could have suffered the quad injury due to averaging 39.4 minutes per game; while only 30 years old, KG is NBA-old, playing his 12th season in the league this year.

The first episode of The End Score Report is up. Meet Dan Devone, FOX sports anchor, and check out his thoughts on this weekend’s Super Bowl XLI. He gives you his pick, plus a preview of some of the commercials we can look forward to seeing. That’s right - K-Fed is gonna blow up!

Ryan Howard has some big nostrilsAs sports fans, we love and want to witness feats of athletic, methodical, and powerful achievement.  The grace of Barry Sanders stopping on a dime, running back five yards, then going forward 80 yards while evading all 11 defensive players for a score was soemthing you felt lucky to see, mouth agape, drool making a half necklace around your neck.  The devastating display of homerun power in 1998 as Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa chase of Roger Maris and his single season home run record and the way they chased each other had even your grandmother paying attention to the home run race.  And, how about Tiger Wood’s assassin-like taking of the PGA at the turn of the century, and most recently this past weekend at the British Open.

Face it, folks, we want to know and be blessed with witnessing, to steal from LeBron James and Nike, the “big things” in sports.  And, I’m here to help you all figure out what those things are.

Kobe down and outLakers shooting guard and the NBA’s leading scorer last season, Kobe Bryant, had minor surgery on this right knee on Saturday and is expected to miss the World Championships later this summer.  The normal recovery time for the surgery performed on Bryant is usually 8-to-12 weeks.

While Kobe will not be able to play on the World Championship United States squad, he will still travel with the team to China and South Korea for exhibition games and to Japan where the tournament is taking place.  This is an excellent public relations move for Bryant, still showing his support of his U.S. teammates and the country itself.

Of course, he just might conveniently be skipping out on “daddy duty” with his young baby girl, whom I doubt will travel with Bryant.  And, of course, he’ll also get out of “hubby duty” and be able to hang with the fellas.  Naturally, this is pure speculation on my part, but it’s easy to be cynical of Bryant ever since his shenanigans in Colorado.

Don’t get me wrong, I hope Bryant is sincere in everything he does and he’s shown no inkling otherwise.  But, in order for Bryant to get back in my heart (and McDonalds-loving belly), he’ll have to be on top behavior for as long as he plays.  Unfair or not, this surgery will see Bryant NOT playing for some time.

However, Lakers fans and fantasy basketball fans, have no worries - Bryant should be ready by the time the regular season comes around.  Barring any setbacks, of course… like, say, someone that just wants to “love Kobe long time” getting very wild.

Italy celebrates!

While much of the United States was out enjoying a beautiful summer Sunday afternoon, over 1 billion people worldwide were witness to a dramatic World Cup finale.  The World Cup has only been decided in a shooutout two times previously, once with Italy losing to Brazil in the 1994 World Cup.  Congrats to Italy on 5-3 shootout win over France for their fourth World Cup Championship.

This match was the perfect ending to an incredible month of World Cup action.  Despite the poor showing by the U.S., the Europeans showed the rest of the world why this is still their sport and kept us entertained (and distracted) during those early morning weekday matches.

There were a ton of great moments during this Cup: Ghana, Austrailia, and Ukraine advancing to the Round of 16 for the first time ever, the amazing game winning goal from Argentina against Mexico, the shootout between England and Portugal, a red card for Wayne Rooney, the United States giving Italy all they could handle, France knocking off the heavily favored Brazilians, and a German team that far exceeded their own national expectations.  Unfortunately, this World Cup will be forever remembered for the brutal head butt that yielded French star Zidane a red card in the overtime period of the final.

Forza Italia.  I bet the streets are still sticky in Firenze, Roma, Torino, and Milano this morning.
