Phish Schedules Reunion Engagements

The new year will not only be about change…it’ll apparently be about reuniting. So far we’ve already learned about reunion tours for Fleetwood Mac and the Grateful Dead. Now we can add Phish to that growing list. Although the group split (or took an extended hiatus) back in 2004, the band’s four members will be collaborating once again for eight engagements later this summer. After a three-day stint in March, Phish will resume their tour …

Okkervil River played Brooklyn’s newest bar The Bell House on Tuesday.  Playing to a sold out crowd, they played most songs from their last two outstanding albums The Stage Names and The Stage Ins.  Will Sheff and band were in fine form this night.  Songs such as “Black Sheep Boy and “For Real” are blistering live.  I love the pairing of these two songs which is how it also appears on their album Black Sheep …

Although Barack Obama is still weeks away from officially taking office, the President-elect can take partial credit for accomplishing one task: getting the Grateful Dead back on the road again. Speculation about a possible tour began brewing last year after the bandmates reunited for February’s “Deadheads For Obama ‘08” concert in San Francisco. That performance was followed up several months later by another fundraising appearance at October’s “Change Rocks” concert/rally in Pennsylvania. In a statement, …

The Hot Concert Tours of 2008

Clearly the economic woes have not been felt by all. In 2009, Madonna earned over $280 million in ticket sales worldwide. (That’s enough to pay several divorce settlements.) The success of the Sticky & Sweet tour made the singer the best solo draw of all time. (She beat the previous record set by herself in 2006.) The 50-year-old also became the top concert attraction in North America this year. Here are the Top Ten North …

U2 Set to Release New Album

Next spring, U2 will show us all what they’ve been working on since dismantling a bomb. Although the group had originally planned to complete its next project by the end of 2008, their 12th studio album is now scheduled for a March 3 release. (No Line on the Horizon will be available internationally on March 2.) The band’s desire to add more tracks is the reason for the delay. “I met with the guys in …

Last night, Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet tour took a slippery turn. During her Rio de Janeiro stop, the 50-year-old fell on the wet stage while performing her song “She’s Not Me.” But, like any experienced professional, she didn’t let the weather keep her down. She continued singing while still on the floor. You can see the mishap at approximately the :35 second mark. (Madonna then picks herself up and kisses a “Like a Virgin” model …

Five years after packing up their equipment, Fleetwood Mac is ready to hit the stadiums once again. Beginning in Spring 2009, four of the group’s main band members - Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie - will kick off their Unleashed tour. The reunion is their first since wrapping up their Say You Will concert gigs back in 2005. At this time, only 15 locales have been announced for the month of …
