This Week on TV (1/12-1/18)

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)  MONDAY 1/12) 24 (FOX, 8pm):  “Jack is released from his Senate subcommittee hearing to help with the domestic threat and the investigation into former colleague Tony Almeida.” I can’t imagine what he would do to just to get out of jury duty. Kyle XY (ABC Family, 9pm):  Season 3 premiere. “Lori, Declan, Josh and Andy deal with the choices they made at the prom.” Whatever happens …

Friday Ratings: CBS Can Do No Wrong

Although CBS falls behind its competitors in the news department, the network is having no problems with its entertainment division. Another day, another win for the Eye. 8pm Ghost Whisperer (10.2 million, 2.5/8 in 18-49) had the night’s best numbers. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (6.2 million, 1.3/4) was on par with last week. Wife Swap* (3.5 million, 1.1/4) traded away 400,000. Momma’s Boys* (0.9/3) registered 3.2 million. Everybody Hates Chris* (1.5 million, 0.5/2) …

Friday Ratings: Frosty Evening for CBS

Back-to-back episodes about Frosty the Snowman had CBS feeling festive this weekend. The network won both the demos and the viewers on Friday. 8pm Frosty the Snowman (2.4/8 in 18-49) rang in 7.63 million; Frosty Returns (7.66 million, 2.4/8) did slightly better than the first 1/2 hour. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (6.3 million, 1.3/4) picked up 800,000. NBC’s Greatest Holiday Moments (5.1 million, 1.0/4) rounded up 700,000 more. Wife Swap (1.2/4) pulled in …

This Week on TV (11/24-11/30)

(You can view TV Envy’s Television Programming Schedule here.) MONDAY (11/24) Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 8pm):  After ten weeks, it all ends tonight. Sadly, I can’t even remember the names of the first two eliminated. Samantha Who? (ABC, 9:30):  “Sam invites boyfriend Owen (James Tupper) for dinner to meet her parents, but Owen and Howard don’t hit it off.” Seems Howard doesn’t approve of his relationship with Anne Heche either. Valkyrie: The Plot to …

Friday Ratings: Lipstick Jungle Not Seeing Improvement

If there ever was a time for fans to support Lipstick Jungle, it’s now. Unfortunately, the show facing cancellation just took another another step backward, not forward. Last night, the show placed third in its hour and dropped 21% from last week. But then again, if Knight Rider can get a full season pickup - who knows? 8pm Ghost Whisperer (11.4 million, 2.7/9 in 18-49) fell by 400,000. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (6 …

Friday Ratings: A New High for Ghost Whisperer

Despite lower numbers for the 9:00 hour (no NCIS repeat this this time), CBS was still on top last Friday. A large part of the network’s success was due to Ghost Whisperer. The series hit a season high with the viewers last week. 8pm Ghost Whisperer (11.7 million, 2.9/10 in 18-49) picked up 600,000. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (5.5 million, 1.2/4) fell by 900,000. Deal or No Deal (5.3 million, 1.2/4) lost 200,000. …

Friday Ratings: CBS Owns the Evening

At this point, I’m not sure if there is anything CBS could do wrong on Friday nights. Even when things were down (a.k.a. The Ex List days), the network was still on top. Now a repeat is surpassing the Eye’s originals. 8pm Ghost Whisperer (11.05, 2.8/9 in 18-49) had the night’s best demos. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (6.4 million, 1.6/5) raised its grade by 1.8 million. Deal or No Deal (5.5 million, 1.1/4) …

Friday Ratings: CBS Better Off without Ex List

Although most shows saw lower numbers on Halloween night, CBS didn’t spook viewers away. In fact, the network - which dumped The Ex List last week - did even better thanks to a repeat of NCIS. Meanwhile, Lipstick Jungle‘s performance on NBC Friday looked downright scary. The program was down 35% from its last Wednesday outing. 8pm Ghost Whisperer (9.4 million, 2.2/8 in 18-49) was off by 600,000. Deal or No Deal (5 million, 0.9/4) gave …

Sunday Ratings: No Strikeout for FOX

It looks like the fourth time was still a charm for FOX. Although it was down 28% from 2007’s numbers, yesterday’s game between the Phillies and the Rays was the best of the series so far. Despite competition from ABC, Game 4 of the World Series gave its network wins in both categories last night. 8pm Approximately 15.5 million watched the Philadelphia Phillies take Game 4 of the World Series (5.1 in 18-49). Extreme Makeover: Home …

Friday Ratings: Ghost Whisperer, Numb3rs Hit Season Highs

Despite being sandwiched in between Friday night’s best shows, CBS’ The Ex List continues to slide in the ratings. Nevertheless, the network still manages to dominate the week-end numbers. 8pm Ghost Whisperer (10 million, 2.5/9 in 18-49) had its biggest audience so far this season. Deal or No Deal (1.4/5) registered 6 million. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (5.7 million, 1.2/4) tested another 600,000. Wife Swap (4.2 million, 1.3/4) traded away 3 million. Everybody …
