Thursday Ratings: ER Still Fourth Despite Clooney

George Clooney might be able to schedule meetings with high-ranking politicians, but he can’t save a whole network. Even though ER saw its best audience in two years, NBC only tied for third in the demos and placed fourth with the viewers last night. (The winner in both categories was CBS.) 8pm Survivor: Tocantins (12.9 million, 4.1/12 in 18-49) rounded up 900,000 more. Bones (2.8/8) returned to 9.6 million. Ugly Betty (7.2 million, 2.1/6) rose by …

Thursday Ratings: Taylor Swift Not Enough for CBS

Taylor Swift isn’t just a big concert draw, the country music sensation is a ratings hit as well. Swift’s stint on CSI helped give the CBS program a nice boost on Thursday night. Unfortunately, that other musical hit (a.k.a. American Idol) was also around to do its thing. 8pm American Idol (21.2 million, 7.5/20 in 18-49) picked up 500,000. Survivor: Tocantins (12 million, 3.8/10) slipped by 300,000. Ugly Betty (6.4 million, 1.7/5) gave up 400,000. My …

Thursday Ratings: Idol Disrupts the Evening

Despite hitting season-low audience numbers, a delayed episode of American Idol was still a nuisance for Thursday’s nights staples. 8pm American Idol (7.1/19 in 18-49) raised 20.7 million viewers. Survivor: Tocantins (12.3 million, 4.0/11) took a 1.4 million hit. Ugly Betty (6.8 million, 1.9/5) lost 900,000. NBC’s Kung Fu Panda special (1.4/4) entertained 4 million; Kath & Kim (3.4 million, 1.5/4) plummeted by 1.7 million. Smallville* (2.1 million, 0.7/2) was down a few notches....

Thursday Ratings: ABC, CBS Split Another Evening

The conclusion of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice crossover event gave the network another win in the demos last night. Meanwhile, a CSI drop didn’t keep CBS from placing first with the viewers. 8pm Survivor: Tocatins (13.7 million, 4.5/12 in 18-49) did about the same as last week. Bones (2.9/8) racked up 9.5 million. Ugly Betty (7.7 million, 2.3/6) added on 300,000. My Name is Earl (6.7 million, 2.6/7) was up 400,000; Kath & Kim (5.1 million, …

Thursday Ratings: ABC Remains Strong Against CBS

ABC’s crossover experiment paid off big time yesterday. Despite an all-new lineup on CBS (and the season premiere of Survivor), the Alphabet network finished the night with a win in the demos. CBS, though, did place first with the viewers. 8pm Survivor: Tocantins (4.4/13 in 18-49) kicked things off with 13.8 million. Ugly Betty (7.4 million, 2.3/6) did about the same. My Name is Earl (6.3 million, 2.6/8) was up a smidge; Kath & Kim (5.5 …

Thursday Ratings: Greys, Private Practice Seize the Night

Last night, ABC wasted a Grey’s/Private Practice crossover special on a competition-free evening. CBS’ repeat-filled slate allowed the Alphabet network to win in the both the viewers and the demos. 8pm Bones (10.8 million, 3.2/9 in 18-49) was tops in its hour. Ugly Betty (7.3 million, 2.3/7) was up 3.3 million from last week. The Big Bang Theory* (2.0/6) and My Name is Earl* (2.5/7) both pulled in 6.2 million. How I Met Your Mother* (5.9 …
